Weekly Newsletter 09/27/2024

Dear Parents and Guardians,

As we transition into October, I hope this message finds you well. We have had a fantastic start to the school year, and I want to take a moment to share some updates and important dates with you.

School Updates: Our students have actively engaged in various activities and projects. We proudly report that our academic programs are thriving, and our teachers continuously find innovative ways to enhance learning.

Updates/Reminders:

- Please take a moment to read through our online Parent Handbook. This vital tool provides essential information about our policies, procedures, and resources to support your child's success. To access it, go to our school website www.kidsforkidsacademy.com and go to the Parent Corner. From there, scroll down to find the Parent Handbook.

-For our annual Halloween Happening, able families are asked to send in two donation items: a box or bag of non-candies for our parade and a box of candy for our students to assemble treat bags for homeless kids. The costume parade will take place on October 30th, and you are asked to send your child in their costume and a change of clothing. Be on the lookout for the flyers outside with the times for the parade. Parents are invited for this event, however we cannot permit children or babies not enrolled in our school to this event for insurance purposes.

-Our teachers in Green, Red, Yellow, Blue, Rainbow, and Orange Door are currently screening their students with the ASQ (Ages and Stages Assessments). This routine assessment ensures your child's development is on track. After the assessments, we will meet with families as needed to discuss the results and address any developmental delays we are seeing.

- Thursday, October 3rd, will be NON-INSTRUCTIONAL; this means kids in VPK and our K-2 program who do not attend school on Monday will not be marked absent. We are open to kids who need care on that day.

Kindness 101:

Our First and Second Grade students learned and practiced the trait of empathy. They watched and discussed a short video about a four year old who felt empathy for the homeless. The students colored and passed around cards with kind messages. We also played a kind challenge game. In the game, students are encouraged to participate in their challenge the best of their abilities. Challenges included things like, helping parents with chores, taking treats to a police station, offer to help a friend in need, calling someone you have not spoken to and remind them how much they are loved.

Our Kindergarten kids Altruism. They saw the video and the children discussed that one way of thinking about someone's happiness before theirs is by donating some of their toys to other kids that needed. It was interesting to see that this was the first idea that they came up with.

Insights:

Please encourage your child to share their school experiences with you. Your interest in their day-to-day activities fosters their enthusiasm for learning. These are great opportunities to discuss your child's progress and collaborate on their goals. We are grateful for your support and trust in our school community. If you're happy with your experience and know other families who might be interested in joining us, we encourage you to refer them to our school.

Additionally, your feedback means a lot to us! If you have a moment, please leave a review. Your insights help us grow and assist other families in making their decisions.

Thank you for your continued partnership in your child's education. We can help our students achieve their full potential by staying connected and communicating openly.

Have a wonderful weekend!
