We are excited about our new training!!

Cindy, Gina, Heather, Michelle & Nia are all on the cusp of completing their neuromuscular cupping training, poised to enrich their massage therapy practice with this innovative technique. As they prepare to offer clients a holistic approach to wellness, they're excited to highlight three key benefits:

1. Pain Relief and Muscle Tension Reduction: Neuromuscular cupping targets tight muscles and trigger points, promoting blood flow and releasing tension. Clients experience reduced pain, stiffness, and greater mobility.

2. Enhanced Circulation and Detoxification:The suction of the cups stimulates circulation and lymphatic flow, aiding in detoxification and boosting immunity. Clients report increased energy and vitality.

3. Stress Reduction and Relaxation: The combination of cupping and massage induces deep relaxation, reducing stress hormones and improving sleep quality. Clients leave feeling balanced and rejuvenated.

With their expertise, Michelle, Cindy, Heather, Nia, and Gina are committed to providing clients with a comprehensive wellness experience that nurtures both body and mind. Mini cupping sessions will be offered as part of the once-a-month massage membership or as a $16 add-on. With this convenient option, clients can experience the benefits of cupping alongside their regular massage therapy sessions.

Integrative Therapeutic Medical Massage

By Stacey Justine Kilps

Quite a few words to describe an approach curated over 28 years of bodywork and 44 years of exploring movement, both artistically and scientifically. My intention is to partner with my clients to look at symptoms from an expanded awareness and empower authentic tools for self-care to optimize outcomes. We collaborate to cultivate a deeper understanding of the innate connectedness of the body, mind, and being.

It is in this way that I deliver tangible measurable results. To optimize function and raise the bar of what can be accomplished by movement, manual treatment, and a home care program of focused tools. In many cases, a client may not disrobe or be asked to wear athletic clothes. The necessity of this is to have the opportunity to stand and check in with the edges of movement and symptom evolution. In other cases, the session is split into sections. If an expectation of getting a massage aligns with what will serve symptom relief most efficiently.

A distinct difference I find with my partnership of clients is the adaptability I embody. Each therapeutic relationship is as unique as the individual on my table. To recognize this as the foundational aspect that trust and discovery of the potential for optimal health is built upon.

From that solid base, results are inevitable. Each session is a new possibility for a life without the chronic pain, strain and tension that you may have thought you just had ‘to live with’. My particular ability is in seeing the patterns others miss. Patterns throughout the physical body that include the connections into the cavities that are often overlooked. I look through a functional lens by virtue of studying kinesiology.

We are one whole being. Far less the mechanical model that is popular in biomedical approaches to symptoms. To contemplate the biopsychosocial-spiritual approach that acknowledges that the whole is greater than the sum of its parts is a worthy endeavor. The reality I have experienced over a 3 decade career is that life's arenas are innately intermingled. The body’s sensations are feedback. Do we listen? Or, do we want a quick fix that only addresses the superficial aspect.

I was the ‘fix it’ therapist for many years. Then my own body began to break down from the stress and burden of caring so much about others' pain, I ignored my own. We all have thresholds to our ability to compensate. I finally slowed down enough during a week-long yoga therapy intensive to begin to feel how disembodied I had become. Down the rabbit hole I went to Wonderland, where I re-evaluated everything I thought I knew. Six years later, the compassionate inquiry I sustained for myself over that time informs my understanding of the connected nature of nature. Which we are. So, I inquire with my clients from the same open-hearted place I hold for myself.

In asking you to partner with me, we begin to uncover the context around symptom screams. Intervening when there are whispers empowers one to recognize them. The empowered awareness is a game changer when combined with mapping the tissue imbalances during manual treatment. Giving self-treatment, stretching, de compensating movements to rewire the system and visualizations to maximize the inevitable tangible measurable results.

Trigger Point Myotherapy

By Sara Lubner

Have you ever had a long stressful day at work and came home with head, neck, shoulder or back pain? Or perhaps you experienced all 4 of these issues at the same time? Well, you have developed trigger points. These painful little points that start immediately or progress over time wreak havoc on how your body physically feels. They do not feel good. Trigger points form in a multitude of muscles and can develop from any injury, a work or car accident, and even stress.

The sooner they are treated, the sooner they go away. Alleviating these trigger points alleviates your pain.

But what if you wait and your muscle pain doesn’t go away? You have now developed a certain type of muscle memory. For athletes, muscle memory can be a good thing as they develop their skills. But this kind of muscle memory that I am referring to is going in the wrong direction, especially when it becomes chronic.

It is my passion to alleviate this type of muscular pain. This is why I am offering a type of

bodywork called trigger point myotherapy here at Balance On Buffalo.

As a trigger point myotherapist, I use a moderately deep form of pressure to trigger points that tackle troublesome, painful areas that don’t want to go away on their own. I perform a fully clothed- full body, hands-on treatment, focusing on erasing irritated, painful areas in your muscles. You may even be surprised to find out you have trigger points in areas that you didn't notice were painful! This is called referred trigger point pain and this is why full body treatment is so successful. Because of this success, I treat the musculoskeletal system of the body. All of the muscles in this system are encased by the body's fascia. Fascia is a connective tissue that surrounds all of our muscles, blood vessels, and nerves. This full body connection is a major player in myofascial trigger point pain.

As a clinician, I moderately press on trigger points and hold them 7-10 seconds. This pressure increases circulation, releases trigger points, and allows the toxins in the muscles to be eliminated from the body. If you are experiencing pain that needs a little nudge to go away, trigger point myotherapy may be for you. Let’s see if I can help you feel better!

Sara is offering morning hours on Monday and Wednesdays starting May 1st at Balance on Buffalo.

Ambient Melodic Cello Concert

2024 Grammy® nominated* cellist Hans Christian

offers a deep listening concert at SoundspaceUSA

Hans Christian offers solo concerts where his unmistakable cello playing moves the listener with a haunting beauty. Using the cello in combination with live looping and various ethnic string instruments, he explores a universal musical language that transcends boundaries, cultures, and generations.

During a concert, Hans will create harmonic and ambient textures in ever changing colors and densities to create a listening experience that ranges from meditative to passionate. At times a soaring cello is supported by a fully orchestrated layer of strings while at other times painting a restrained meditative sonic space to take the listener into deep introspection.

The artist also incorporates esoteric instruments, such as the Indian sarangi or the Swedish nyckelharpa, to blend with the cello and he may also include sound bowls, cymbals, and flutes to create meditative and devotional listening experiences.
