MNC IS GROWING TO CREATE A BRIDGE TO HOPE AND OPPORTUNITIES

MNC Inspiring Success recently completed a Strategic Planning process that allowed MNC's Board and Staff to create a set of clear, measurable objectives that will guide anticipated change and growth at MNC during the next three years. This Strategic Plan builds on MNC's current programs and activities. The plan also expands into new ventures where MNC can uniquely respond to provide uplifting services and respond to vital community needs.

To memorialize our Strategic Plan, MNC has created a Brochure that spells out our objectives which will have long-term beneficial impacts on our clients and communities we serve. Linked to this newsletter is a copy of the MNC 2024-2027 Strategic Plan and a link to a video where I dive into the seven Strategic Objectives, our new mission statement, and MNC’s flywheel model.

As you can see, our objectives will allow us to continue to expand our campuses to serve our community. We are building on our successful early care programs; we are building on our services to youth and workforce development and so much more. We are also expanding our affordable housing strategies that aim to provide equitable access and uplifting opportunities to our families.

Core to every new program or objective included in this Plan is our commitment to inclusion, justice, and organizational excellence. We would appreciate and welcome your feedback on MNC's plans for the future. Together we are impacting the lives of those whose well-being and livelihoods depend on us.

The FUTURE is always on my mind and in that, a steadfast commitment to where and when MNC should go and grow.

Best,

Richard Ybarra

Distinguished Speaker Series Leo Rosales/Virginia Rosales

Thank you, Leo and Virginia, for a monumental conversation and an unforgettable day!

“I am truly inspired by Mr. Rosales’ history and story. He has lived a multi-faceted life of passion, dream-making, misfortune, and victory. Virgina was equally inspiring. They are two remarkable individuals.” -Barbara Walden, Early Education Program Director

“After this amazing experience the big lesson from Leo and his wife is it doesn't matter if you fall, the most important thing is to know how to get up!!!” -Eulalia Brito, Controller

“Leo and Virginia are both super inspirational. I am very grateful for their stories which are very motivating and helpful for me to continue providing services to our children, children’s parents and community.”-Patrick Tran, Data Analyst

“Leo and Virginia, thank you for sharing your story. It made me go back in time and live with you through those great moments. You encourage me to keep dreaming and work hard to make my passion and dreams come true.” -Mario Quintanilla, Recruiter

Latin Rock Legend Leo Rosales and his wife Virginia treated MNC Distinguished Speaker Series attendees to a master class on success, struggle, and redemption. Leo is co-founder of the Latin Rock band Momotombo SF with former members of Malo and Santana. We had a monumental conversation. Leo’s retelling of boyhood cobbling together household items like pie pans and garbage cans to make his own drums while dreaming of playing in front of thousands of people was one of many inspiring moments, bookended by his phone call telling his dad that he was playing at Carnegie Hall.

There was laughter and tears at Leo’s memories of music, time with Malo, meeting amazing artists, and struggles with addiction. Virginia shared stories from her farmworker life, her struggles, continuing her education & counseling career at Skyline College and how she supported Leo and his return to music. Everyone was inspired, emotional and gave a standing ovation. Both received the MNC Distinguished Speaker Series mug. Thank you, Leo and Virginia, for an unforgettable day!

“Leo and Virginia's stories of success, resilience and love inspired me to power through my own journey of living my purpose and supporting my loved ones in their own. Visualizing success, listening to moments of clarity, and self-care are takeaways I'll remember for life!” -Micha Antonio-Queri, Fiscal Contract Administrator

“It was a true pleasure hearing Leo's and Virginia's story. Their determination to pursue their goals in life is truly inspirational, especially hearing how both want to help others. I particularly liked it when Leo expressed to us something along the lines of “being a light for others by sharing our talents” and how he wants to use music to provide healing to others.” - Paula Ayala, HR Manager

“Leo and Virginia, a testament to resilience and love, graciously shared their journey, teaching that through overcoming adversity, forgiving deeply, and pursuing passions, one finds peace and never ceases to dream. Their lives remind us that every challenge is a step towards greater unity and understanding. We are profoundly grateful for their wisdom and the enduring light they cast on our paths.” -Ana Cobos, Director of Administration

“Encountering Leo and Virginia was a very inspirational experience, they were so transparent and humble, they gave us a lot of lessons. They are courageous, determined, and persistent, both had dreams and worked hard to make them come true. Leo dreamt big and got big things!! It doesn't matter how many times you fall; the most important thing is to stand up and keep moving.” -Efrain Sandoval, Early Education Family Services Specialist

“They made me fly through time and experience what they have lived. How marvelous it would be for them to transmit their experiences to others, for example our kids that are barely dreaming to become someone in life or to inspire someone who wants to make a difference in our community, to inspire our immigrants, our people who are here to have a better life.” -Joana Mattero, Program Manager for Healthy Aging & Disability Services

“The Distinguished Speaker Series continues to inspire me and has me leaving each session emotionally and spiritually renewed. When people show their vulnerability in the context of helping others from their experiences, it is doubly effective as a positive impact, not only to those currently trying to cope, but also relatable for those who have also dealt with similar issues in the past.” -David Levy, Administrative Assistant

"Leo and Virginia each had their own story to share, both equally powerful and inspiring. It was uplifting to hear successful individuals touch on realities that many of us face, without shame or regret but with compassion and vulnerability.” -Natalie Del Sarto, Director for Youth and Family Services

Inspiring Campus Visits

Listening to feedback on how the Executive team can better serve each campus is the most important takeaway of these visits

MNC’s Executive Team efforts to unite Team MNC in every department gave rise to the idea for regular campus visits. CEO Richard Ybarra visited the team MNC’s 18th Street Campus where he spoke with Lead Teacher Santrecheel Graham, Maria Rodriguez, Guillermina Titla, and Jacqueline Pariona. It was an amazing opportunity for Richard to share the Strategic Plan Objectives, listen to staff and most importantly hear feedback on how the Executive team can better serve the needs of each Campus.

“I thought the visit went well. It is always good to see Richard. The teachers enjoyed how relatable he was and felt good about the information that he shared.” Santracheel Graham, Lead Teacher

“I thank you very much for your visit, for your humility and for being a leader as I told you, this was never done in the program and since you arrived there have been many positive changes for the well-being of the community and with all the new projects on the way MNC SF will be more recognized, it only remains for me to say thank you from the bottom of my heart a thousand thanks on behalf of the community." -Jaqueline Pariona, Teacher

"I feel very grateful for your visit, your attention to us was very pleasant, thank you for making us feel proud to be part of MNC. Big changes for the good of the entire MNC community have been happening. The future of the organization is very encouraging. You inspired me with a lot of confidence. I want to express to you that you have the team at 18th Street Campus. Thanks a lot!" -Maria Rodriguez, Teacher

Make Playdough, not Punishments!

MNC’s Excelsior Campus explored ways to give natural consequences to a child's challenging behavior instead of using threats or punishments

The parents learned how basic home items can be combined to make playdough and how it can help them with motor skills, relaxation, and more!

Vivian Lopez and Excelsior Campus parents showoff their playdough creations

MNC’s Excelsior Campus had a great turnout for our parent meeting! We completed series 5 of our CSEFFEL parent trainings. It was called Facing the Challenge Part 1. During the training we explored ways to give natural consequences instead of punishments. The parents discussed amongst themselves challenges they were having at home and together thought about natural consequences they can begin to incorporate to replace possibly threatening, or even hitting their children.

After this training series we also made playdough together. The parents learned how basic home items can be combined to make playdough and the advantages of making playdough at home, such as helping them work on counting, cause and effect, motor skills, and playdough being a relaxation method.
