Dear LaShanda,

This month I am thrilled to connect with you in celebration of Hunger Action Month. As we recognize the dedicated team of individuals working to alleviate food insecurity across Orange County, I encourage you to get involved whether it be through volunteerism, partnerships, or donating. Through our OC Food Bank, millions of pounds of food are distributed each year to bring much-needed food resources to those in need.

In acknowledgement of the tremendous efforts being done across Southern California, we were thrilled to join hunger action leaders at the California Association of Food Banks press conference earlier this month to discuss current barriers and seek solutions. You can read more about the press conference HERE.

Through this work and our many other programs, our commitment to our mission remains steadfast. Thanks to the continued engagement of dedicated community members like you, we continue to pursue our vision of a poverty-free Orange County this month and throughout the year.

With gratitude,

State Funding Brings New Opportunities to the Giving Farm

We are excited to share that Community Action Partnership of Orange County (CAP OC) has been awarded funding through California’s Farm to School Incubator Grant Program in support of our efforts at the Giving Farm in partnership with Westminster High School.

With this new funding, CAP OC’s Giving Farm will not only be able to increase food production by investing in farm labor and climate-smart agricultural benefits, but also supply Westminster High School with fresh produce to be utilized in their food services.

The Giving Farm continues to serve as a powerful initiative, enhancing our OC Food Bank operations while educating students on the benefits of local agriculture.

"We are all so thankful for CAP OC and the OC Food Bank. The other day, a woman and her son came in for a meal. Upon receiving food, the boy looked up to his mom and exclaimed, 'Mommy, we have food!' and his mom smiled and said, 'I know son, we get to eat today.' It made me wonder if he hadn't eaten since yesterday, or how many more of those "todays" there have been. Your donated foods are a such a blessing; more than some really know."
