From a Grateful Church Administrator
Thank you all for the wonderful retirement celebration April 14th. I was so touched by the kind words and memories that were shared as well as the amazing gift. It’s been so nice to have Mathew’s painting hanging in my office for the last year, and am so happy to now have it hanging on my living room wall! I am truly overwhelmed. The messages shared by Julie, George, Dwight, Cliff, Meghan, Tom, and Joan brought me to tears. I have worked with great human beings!
I know the time is right, but it’s still hard to say goodbye. I want to express my deepest gratitude for the journey we’ve shared and the friendships I have made. I’ve been through 25 annual reports, a capital campaign and renovations...there was no bathroom on the main level in this church building when I started working here: Thank you, Tom Burkett for working to fix that!
We’ve had some crises. I won’t miss the boiler breakdowns or leaky roofs or floods, but I will miss the people who helped manage them.
In countless bulletins and newsletters over the years, you have overlooked my spelling mistakes and iffy grammar, I thank you! I think I have finally recovered from the biggest blooper in my time here: When I missed proof reading a Beacon submission about a book study with another church on the corner, referring to them as our FIENDS across the street.
I want to thank so many of you—I know the hard work that goes on behind the scenes by these wonderful volunteers. ALL of you have given so much of your time and energy to this church. Too many names to mention---I thank you all.
(But I do need to let you know that if you are warm on a cold day or cool on a hot day, at ANY UCG function, it’s because of Ken Klatt.)
And the UCG staff is the best. I am so thankful to have worked with Alissia these last two years. I’ll miss Jackie’s Friday check-ins and friendship; and thank you, Mathew, for sneaking in and fixing things here and there and caring so much for our buildings!
I arrived at the same time as the hymnals in the pews. Amazingly, I outlasted the sanctuary red carpet and the faithful HP printer that Dina Miller donated many years ago.
Thank you UCG for twenty-five great years! I will carry you in my heart.
