PA Route 6 Alliance Invites You To The

2024 Educational Workshop,

Annual Meeting & "DO 6" Awards

OCTOBER 10 & 11, 2024

THIS YEAR'S THEME: Bridging Communities Through Outdoor Recreation Economies

Each year, the PA Route 6 Alliance brings community leaders and tourism professionals across the 11 County PA Route 6 Heritage Region together in the “Heritage Community of the Year” for two full days of learning, networking, and celebrating Pennsylvania’s scenic Route 6.

In 2023, Honesdale was distinguished with the “Heritage Community of the Year” Award, a testament to its endeavors in promoting, developing, and investing in the local community. While it can be witnessed passing through, we invite you to join us to experience Honesdale with your feet on the ground!

During the Educational Workshop on Thursday, October 10th, participants will learn how outdoor recreation can bring together various communities, attract and retain residents, and engage community members. Some of the speakers include Lackawaxen River Trails, PA Humanities, Pocono Mountain Visitors Bureau, and more!

Following our morning session at 6th & River, a revitalized undergarment factory, we will embark on a Fall Foliage Excursion and enjoy the scenery and lunch aboard the Stourbridge Line. Local historian Jeff Hiller will provide insights into how the preservation of Honesdale’s locomotive heritage has contributed to the local economy. You’ll have free time to explore downtown Honesdale before joining local leaders for a walking tour to learn more about current projects happening in the area. The day will end with a fun Networking Reception at Runaway Train Brewery.

The Annual Meeting and “DO 6” Awards will take place on Friday, October 11th at 6th & River. We are honored to announce Nathan Reigner, Director of Outdoor Recreation at DCNR, as our Keynote Speaker. Nathan will address statewide initiatives aimed at unifying, growing, and strengthening Pennsylvania’s outdoor industry to bring about economic, health, and conservation benefits across the Commonwealth. The Alliance will recognize a select few outstanding individuals and groups during the annual “Do 6″ awards ceremony. These individuals, organizations, businesses, and corporations embody the mission of the PA Route 6 Alliance, which is to protect, preserve, and enhance the scenic, cultural, historical, and recreational resources of Pennsylvania’s northern tier.”

Riverside Brewing Co.

Riverside Brewing Company just celebrated their 5 year Anniversary!

CONGRATULATIONS!

Check out their Facebook Page for upcoming events.

Riverside Brewing Company is housed in a rustic barn originating from the 1800’s from Cochranton, PA that has been deconstructed, moved and currently reconstructed to the real estate property recently purchased at 1 Fountain Ave, Cambridge Springs, PA, formerly the historic Riverside: The Inn at Cambridge Springs. The building has a large bar, restaurant seating, an overflow seating for busy hours or private events, entertainment area, gift shop, comfortable seating, a restaurant kitchen and storage areas, brewing areas, restrooms, outdoor patio and bar, and fantastic view of French creek and the historic Riverside Inn gardens. Guests can expect to be wowed with the initial beauty of the extensive outdoor landscaping (both preserved and restored from the historic property and new additions and improvements) and the restored barn turned into the brew pub. The outdoor bar made from a true silo makes the patio a great place to relax and enjoy some great craft brews and fine food. RBC also prides itself in supporting local musicians weekly. Come be a part of the RBC family!

HERITAGE COMMUNITY SPOTLIGHT

Congratulations Wyoming County

Wyoming County was recognized July 16th for the completion of Community Heart & Soul. Wyoming County is the 2nd county to go through the Community Heart & Soul Program. This resident-driven process engages the entire population of a town (or county) in identifying what they love most about their community, what future they want for it, and how to achieve it. It's a two-year community and economic development process proven to engage, strengthen, and reinvigorate communities.

Wyoming County is rich in natural beauty and landscape, a combination of rolling farmlands and vast woodlands situated along Route 6 and the Susquehanna River, interspersed with quaint rural villages, historic sites, tumbling streams, and scenic vistas. The true beauty of Wyoming County lies not in one specific area but in a colorful combination of residents of rural towns and neighborhoods united in the single splendor of a Kaleidoscope of Communities.
