SUPPORT MCHS PTSA AND BOOSTERS 10/11/24
Bring the whole family to the annual Mira Costa Tailgate on 10/11 from 5-6:30pm. Tickets are $40 and kids under 10 are free. Before the Mira Costa football game starts enjoy a special band, cheer, and dance performances as well as a tasty taco bar and dessert. There is also a special ticket for those folks who want to have VIP "Watch Party" seating during the game on the Terrace above the field. MCHS Spirit Wear will be available to purchase from a variety of Booster Clubs.
This is one of the final two home football games of the year, so don't miss out seeing Mira Costa at its best! Get your tickets today! All Tailgate proceeds go to support Mira Costa PTSA, which provides essential funding to support all students and staff at Mira Costa while MCHS Fan Gear proceeds support Booster Clubs. CROSS COUNTRY
The cross country season is underway. The team had a great showing at its first full team experience at the PV Mini Meet. The boys captured 1st place in 2 of 3 heats and the girls upped their game winning the first heat. While select athletes are in Hawaii racing in the Iolani XC Invitational this Saturday, our non-travel athletes are racing in the Laguna Hills Cross Country Invitational. Our next full team meet is the Woodbridge Cross Country Classic in the late afternoon through night on September 21, 2024. Our athletes are reaping the benefits of hard work and determination. While our athletes are racing hard, our parents are building the MCXC community with the Parent Cheer Squad tent – connecting with each other and supporting our athletes.

This month we’re highlighting the Broadcast Journalism class and the Mustang Morning News that they produce! Fun fact: Broadcast Journalism 3 students earn honors credit for their class and there are leadership positions available which are in high demand and look great on college apps!

MUN
As the new school year begins, the countdown to LAIMUN, Mira Costa’s annual Model UN conference hosted in December, grows closer! Students have been finalizing committee topic synopses in preparation to chair and dias their debate committees. Additionally, our sophomores who have newly joined the Advanced MUN program are finishing up sophomore testing, an assignment where they are tasked in learning and reciting various poems, speeches, and rules to improve speaking skills and grow as Model UN delegates. Overall, the Mira Costa Model UN program is looking forward to a great year!

SURF - Boys and Girls
The Surf Team began the season training in August to shoot for its 20th consecutive league championship.
Team sponsors this year include Goodboybob coffee, Outsource, Giant Smiles Dental, Aftermath apparel, The Farima Czyzyk Center, Ocean View Law Firm, Eureka and Salty Grom.
Surf Youth Camp - Join the Costa Surf Team on October 3rd and learn how to surf. We will have snacks and lunch and you will receive a Costa Surf Team trucker hat.

Hometown Fair - The Surf Team boosters will be co-hosting the beer garden for the first time in the program’s 20 years. We will ALSO have our “Potty Toss” game booth. Come by and try your luck for some prizes.

BASKETBALL - BOYS
Save the date for Saturday, October 26, for the 3rd Annual Back-to-School Bash Party! This is a community-wide, adults-only party you won’t want to miss. This year’s Back-to-School Bash will feature a catered dinner, a live DJ, dancing, and an open bar. You’ll also have the chance to participate in both live and silent auctions, where you can bid on exclusive items and experiences.

RUGBY - BOYS and GIRLS
ANNUAL RUGGERS CAMP, NOVEMBER 11TH – SAVE THE DATE!
The Rugby teams are excited for their annual one-day, coed RUGGERS NON-CONTACT DAY CAMP on our school district’s Veterans Day holiday – Monday, November 11th from 8:30 to 11:30 am! All kids (boys & girls) ages 5 to 14 are welcome and will have a blast at our rugby camp run by Mira Costa High School Varsity Rugby Coaches and Rugby Athletes. They will have a fun day playing games and learning skills. Elite Ruggers ages 11-14 will receive an introduction to our High School experience presented by Head Coach Duke Dulgarian. SAVE THE DATE: BOYS’ AND GIRLS’ RUGBY TOURNAMENT IN NEW ZEALAND
In addition to our regular winter season, the Mira Costa Rugby program participates in international tournaments, having previously played in Wales, Spain and Italy. The Rugby program is currently planning an international tournament to New Zealand during Spring Break 2025 (April 12-21), where our boys’ and girls’ teams will compete in at least three matches each against New Zealand rugby teams. Parents are welcome!
