Conversations in Community (with potluck)

You are invited to CCC (Community meal, Conversation, and Compline) Wednesday evenings May 1, 8, and 15 from 6:00 to 7:30 p.m. in the Saint Mark’s Community Room.

The evening will begin with a potluck meal (you are invited to bring something to share, as you are able; your presence is more than enough). It will continue with Conversation around the tables, and conclude with Compline.

The focus of conversation will be the transition period Saint Mark’s is in until the call of the next Dean. It will give us the opportunity to practice listening to one another as we share our hopes and dreams for Saint Mark’s. It will enable us to celebrate what we are doing well and discern what we could do better. We look forward to hearing your voice at these gatherings.

No reservation is necessary and you may attend as many Wednesdays as you are able.

Sunday, May 5, 9:15am: Conversation with

Our Council

Gina Christ (Senior Warden) and John Satterberg (Junior Warden) will lead conversations this morning, with focus on Property Committee updates. Also, conversations ‘round the tables will continue with opportunity to express our hopes for the future as we move forward together.

Garden Love

On Tuesday, April 23, three Saint Markans and three Hennepin County Master Gardeners cleaned up the pollinator gardens, weeded early weeds and spread mulch on the gardens. The daffodils and prairie smoke are in bloom. Other pollinator plants are just starting to sprout. The next garden work day will be Tuesday, May 21, 1 to 3pm. We will be planting 41 pollinator plants. All are welcome to come and help.

Loving Our Neighbors:

A Wells Foundation Update

The Wells Foundation, made up of members of Saint Mark's, shines a creative light on the Foundation's century-long commitment to social changes in our neighborhoods. This week, we would like to highlight Full Cycle Bike Shop and The Lift Garage.

Full Cycle Bike Shop is a social enterprise of Pillsbury United Communities that offers structured employment training programs for youth experiencing homelessness. The business offers a paid internship program for 20-24 youth each year, youth-specific food access programming, and street based outreach to engage youth outside of the bike shop.

The Lift Garage aims to move people out of poverty and homelessness by providing low-cost car repairs and honest advice. They offer free inspections to assess safety and drivability, mobile van inspections for broken-down vehicles within the Twin cities metro area and pre-purchase inspections on used cars. They charge $15/hour for labor and parts are sold at cost. They serve well over 1,000 customers every year.
