Your heart builds homes, now and for generations to come

We have broken ground on our second building!

Just a few days ago, under a clear blue sky, a groundbreaking ceremony took place, marking the continuation of this transformative project. It was a day of celebration and unity as members of the Immokalee Fair Housing Alliance (IFHA) board, community leaders, and friends of the project came together to witness the start of something truly remarkable – the beginning of the second building in this amazing project.

Where our shovels dug into the earth, it symbolized the foundation upon which brighter futures will be built. We are grateful for the collective effort that has brought us to this moment. Many of you that are both inspired and committed to this project truly exemplify the significance of this project that is addressing the pressing housing needs of the low-income families in Immokalee. For those who said it couldn’t be done, we would like to invite you to tour the first building and the site for the second. And third. And the rest!

Breaking ground is not just a symbolic gesture. It's a continuing step towards realizing a vision of inclusive and equitable communities. With each apartment building that rises from the ground, a beacon of hope emerges, offering refuge and opportunity to those in need. Together, we are building a better tomorrow for Immokalee, and we thank you for being part of this historic project.

First Families Being Selected

Last month we announced the opening of applications for the first apartment building at our project in Immokalee, bringing low-income families the opportunity to live in secure, safe, and affordable housing in the community.

Out of the many people who applied, 120 people qualified for the apartments, making this first application opening a huge success.

Our committee is now reviewing all of the applications to select the first tenants. A total of sixteen families will be chosen for immediate occupancy. Eligible families not selected will be placed on a waiting list for future opportunities. It is apparent from this first solicitation for applicants that the need for housing in Immokalee is great.

At the site, the walls and floors are completed, the appliances have been delivered, and the cabinetry is being installed now. Everything is on target for the building to see its first residents move in sometime in June. This is truly an exciting time for all who have been on this journey with us. There is so much more to do, but this is a great start!

If you or your organization wants an up-close look at our progress, we invite you to schedule a private tour. We look forward to sharing our progress with you!

Playground Soon to Take Shape

Untitled Design

With the first of our eight apartment buildings soon to open, a safe play area for the kids that will be part of this community is sorely needed. We will soon be breaking ground on a playground so that the children can have a wonderful, safe place to play. The timeline had to be moved up to accommodate the arrival of the first families to the community, but thanks to the many gifts we've received from friends like you, and the matching gift from Graham and Linda Hart, the playground will soon be built. Thank you for your generosity as we build a community where parents and their children can be safe. We can't wait to se the smiles of the children that will use this play area to grow, learn, and have fun! If you'd like to make a gift to this project, click the link now!

We are both thrilled and honored to be awarded a generous grant from The League Club of Naples. The League Club awarded $30,400 to support IFHA and its efforts to provide affordable housing solutions for low-income and lower-income families in Immokalee. IFHA was one of 35 area nonprofits to receive a grant from the League Club.

"We are incredibly grateful to The League Club of Naples for their generous grant," said Dr. Arol Buntzman, Board Chair of IFHA. "With this grant we will be able to make significant strides towards our goal of providing safe and affordable housing for families in need in Immokalee."

For more than 37 years, The League Club has been a pillar of support for nonprofit organizations in Collier and Lee counties, providing a total of $7.3 million in grants to 217 organizations. The League Club's dedication to serving children, families, the elderly, and veterans aligns perfectly with IFHA's commitment to addressing the critical need for housing in the Immokalee community.
