A MESSAGE FROM FCM ON THE 2024 FEDERAL BUDGET
| |
FCM welcomed last week’s federal budget, noting the measures it contained to tackle the housing and homelessness crises. Review FCM's Budget Analysis here.
While this budget responded directly to a number of FCM recommendations, notably in committing to housing infrastructure investment, since last Tuesday our team has been busy assessing the details, conditions and timeframes contained within this budget.
In terms of next steps, FCM will continue collaborating with the federal government and our partners in Provincial and Territorial Associations to ensure the best possible success of this budget’s newly announced programs and funding arrangements. Additionally, we continue to urge the federal government to convene with Provinces, Territories and municipalities to negotiate a modernized permanent funding model, one that would empower our growing communities.
| |
