USDA/AFHK Healthy Meals Incentives Recognition Award

Sandy Valley Local School District in Ohio was in the national spotlight in Washington DC as Agriculture Secretary Tom Vilsack announced the district as one of four recipients of the national Healthy Meals Incentives (HMI) Recognition Award. This award, a collaborative effort between the USDA and Action for Healthy Kids, honors outstanding school districts for their trailblazing and innovative efforts in improving the nutritional quality of school meals

SNA of Ohio East Central Regional Director: Andrew Mendez

Andrew Mendez is a Food Service Director at Kenston Local Schools. He has been director for 5 years and has been a member of SNA for 5 years as well. His favorite school food is build your own burrito day. He plays a vital role on the SNA board as the Treasurer/Secretary. He enjoys getting to network with great like-minded people and share on how to contribute to improve school lunches for students. His favorite memory from an SNA event is the Impromptu dance party in 2023 at SNA of Ohio Conference where he says “Never miss a beat!”
