Message from the Associate Dean - BCH Oakland
August 2024
| |
It's Already August!
August is traditionally a time of vacation, relaxation, and back-to-school preparations. But at UCSF Benioff Children's Hospital, it is a busy time. Sign up for the many development opportunities, including Faculty Development Day on September 9th and 10th.
There are also many conferences this fall to plan for. Don't forget to RSVP to the Coffee and Donuts meet and greet this Wednesday morning with Suresh Gunasekaran, CEO of UCSF Health, and Talmadge King, Jr., Dean of the UCSF School of Medicine. See the announcements below for links to sign up.
Our office is hosting a series of First Wednesday events this fall, with the first one coming up on Wednesday, September 4, 2024, from 4:00-6:00 PM at 5700 MLK (Research Building – Courtyard). First Wednesdays will be a relaxed opportunity to connect with your colleagues in real life and meet some of our new faculty working at BCH Oakland. You can RSVP here.
Finally, most of you have seen various Town Hall invitations. Please take advantage of one of these town halls to hear important updates about the modernization of the BCH Oakland campus! It is an exciting time. The next Town Hall is tomorrow, Tuesday, August 6, from 12:00-1:00 PM.
Thank you for all you do to mentor, educate, and inspire our new trainees! Don't forget to sign up for interview season.
Be well,
Kelley

The UCSF Changemaker Series, created by Professor of Medicine Hilary Seligman, MD, MAS, is a four-part video series that seeks to build the capacity of UCSF researchers to generate scientific evidence that is responsive to the needs of real-world decision-makers. Each 10-15 minute video highlights a UCSF researcher in conversation with an interdisciplinary panel of non-academic experts discussing how investigators at all stages of their careers can more meaningfully inform policies, systems, and structures in order to create social or policy change.
