From Detection to Guidance: Addressing AI Use in Student Assignments at Loyola

In case you missed it, Instructional Technology & Research Support (ITRS) and the Office of Online Learning (OOL) partnered to host a webinar addressing student use of AI through course policies, assignment design, and the AI detection tool in Turnitin. Findings were shared from the ongoing Turnitin AI Writing Detection Tool pilot and attendees engaged in a thought exercise to help shape their approach to AI use in their courses. The webinar recording is now available. A related survey is open until November 17th to collect feedback from faculty on the effectiveness of the Turnitin AI Writing Detection Tool and available Loyola support for teaching with generative AI.

Thanks for a Great Showcase

A special thanks to all Loyola faculty, staff, and students who attended the 2024 Information & Technology Showcase earlier this month. The event was co-hosted by University Libraries and Information Technology Services. More than 200 people spent their day in breakout sessions and visiting service provider tables to learn more about the abundance of resources currently available to Loyolans. Attendees also enjoyed mingling with colleagues during breakfast and lunch, as well as the Closing Leadership Panel and raffle drawing. Congratulations to the many winners! Please be on the lookout for information about this event returning in 2025.
