As the presidential election cycle nears its final 60 days, The Economic Club of Washington, D.C., invites you to a discussion between two best-selling authors on the American presidency, current world affairs, and potential challenges of unchecked technological progress.
David Rubenstein will interview Admiral James Stavridis on his recent co-authored book, 2054: A Novel, as well as the current geopolitical trends. Best-selling author Admiral Stavridis is currently Partner and Vice Chair, Global Affairs of The Carlyle Group. A retired four-star U.S. naval officer, he led the NATO Alliance in global operations from 2009 to 2013 as the 16th Supreme Allied Commander with responsibility for Afghanistan, Libya, the Balkans, Syria, counter-piracy, and cyber security. He also served as Commander of U.S. Southern Command, with responsibility for all military operations in Latin America from 2006-2009.
Admiral Stavridis will also interview David Rubenstein on his soon to be released book, THE HIGHEST CALLING: Conversations on the American Presidency. Rubenstein’s fifth book comprehensively explores the American presidency through interviews with living presidents and renowned historians. Drawing from his experience in the Carter administration, Rubenstein provides an in-depth look at the most powerful office in the world.
