From the Desk of LWHS Principal, Dr. Christine Bell
Dear Kang Families,
I understand that many in our community have concerns about the transition from a 7-period schedule to a 6-period schedule. Families, students, and staff have raised important questions about how this shift will affect opportunities for rigorous coursework, credit recovery, and overall academic planning. I want to acknowledge these concerns and emphasize that we are committed to making this transition as smooth as possible.
We’ve been actively gathering feedback from students in classes and club meetings, and we’ve encouraged them to be mindful of the uncertainties staff may be experiencing. Some teachers across the district may be impacted by staffing adjustments, and we understand that this is a difficult time for many. I am committed to sharing clear and timely information to reduce stress for both students and staff.
For the most up-to-date details on the transition, I recommend families and students refer to the district's Frequently Asked Questions page, which is regularly updated by our Resource Center.
Our focus at Lake Washington High School remains on providing the best, most supportive learning environment for every student. As we approach registration for next year, counselors will meet with each student individually to review graduation requirements and ensure that every student understands the academic opportunities available to them.
Together with the communities of Kirkland and Redmond, we will continue to focus on our shared priorities and plan thoughtfully for the 2025-26 school year.
Thank you for your ongoing support and partnership.
Christine Bell, Ed.D
Principal, Lake Washington High School

LWHS Theatre Presents: Bram Stoker's Dracula, Oct 25 & 26
LWHS Theatre is presenting Bram Stoker's Dracula right in time for the Halloween season. Two 7pm shows: Friday, October 25th and Saturday, October 26th.
I want your fear. For your fear, like a current, rushes through your body. Your fear makes your heart pound, it renders your veins rich and full. Your fear hemorrhages deliciously within you.
This new adaptation restores the suspense and seduction of Bram Stoker's classic novel to the stage. As Count Dracula begins to exert his will upon the residents of London, they try to piece together the clues of his appearances in a valiant attempt to save themselves from a hideous fate. Rich with both humor and horror, this play paints a wickedly theatrical picture of Stoker's famous vampire.
*This show is rated PG-13 for challenging subjects and scary situations.
