All ages are welcome to partake on the lawn next to the Library parking lot between the hours of 10 AM and 2 PM. Information on Summer Reading for all ages will be available. In the event of rain, we will move into our Large Meeting Room. | |
Registration for our Summer Reading Program opens on Saturday, June 22! With reading challenges available for children, teens, and adults, summer reading is for everyone!
Summer reading challenges are open for participation June 22 through August 11. As you read and log books, engage in challenge activities, and attend Library programs, you will be eligible to earn badges. Each badge you earn in Beanstack counts as one entry into the weekly prize drawings for gift certificates to local businesses, such as Copper Dog Books, Down River Ice Cream, Art Supplies Wholesale, & more. The more badges you earn, the more chances you have to win one of our raffle prizes! Children ages 11 & under are also eligible to earn special prizes, including an opportunity for a Topsfield Fair prize package.

Enslaved People & Wenham with Historian Robert Corcoran

In the mid-18th century 1 in 17 of Wenham's residents was enslaved. Prior to the Revolutionary War, enslavement was commonplace throughout Essex County -- but most histories of the town have largely overlooked the phenomenon. Robert Corcoran, author of Enslaved People & Wenham, will present an overview of where Wenham's enslaved population lived, worked and worshiped.

Graffiti Art Contest for Teens

Would you like to try your hand at graffiti? Join us on the lawn outside and give it a shot. We'll supply the paint and a 30x40 inch canvas. All artwork will be displayed on the walls of the Library's teen area during the 7 weeks of our summer reading program, which launches on Saturday, June 22. During that time artwork will be voted on by teens and visitors to the exhibit. Prizes will be awarded for Best Use of Color, Best Design, and Originality.
For teens entering grades 6 to 12 in Fall 2024. Space limited. Advance registration is required.

Visit us to enjoy the works of Indra Persad Milowe, on display May-June!
Indra is a Trinidad born, USA-based, prolific visual & public artist with numerous exhibitions internationally. Indra recently returned from her second trip to Ubud, Bali, Indonesia as an Artist-in-Residence. Indra is a regular contributing artist to the Rotunda Gallery (Trinidad, West Indies) and to Art Impact International (Washington, D.C.). She recently attended (SIFA 2023) Singapore International Festival of Arts. She was an Artist-in-Residence at Mauser Eco House in Costa Rica, where she painted a 6 x 6 foot mural. Indra has created two public art projects in Salem, MA: "Kailash: The Art Box in Derby Square" and "Mirabai: The 22 Bollards on Artists Row."
