RESEARCH AND SPONSORED PROGRAMS | MAY 2024

We’re winding up another successful academic year, but the grants and research activity on campus shows no signs of slowing. This month’s issue includes news about several notable Fresno State awardees, including the Spring 2024 recipients of the CSU Biotechnology Program (CSUBIOTECH) Seed Grants:

  • Katherine Waselkov (Biology): Research Development Grant Award ($15,000) for the proposal, “Investigating Herbicide Resistance in Common Chickweed in Central Valley Small Grain Crops.”

  • Cynthia Hsu (Biology): New Investigator Grant Award ($15,000) for the proposal, “Light Drives Sleep Independently of the Molecular Clock.”

One of 10 affinity groups in the CSU system, CSUBIOTECH leads collaborative research across multiple campuses. The group is dedicated to developing a professional biotechnology workforce by catalyzing and supporting collaborative CSU student and faculty research, innovating educational practices, and partnering with the life science industry.

Congratulations to the three professors listed above and all faculty/staff involved in grants and research activity this academic year! We look forward to continuing to support your efforts in the months and years ahead.
