Bring Us Your Canes!!!

For the past 9 years GDABVI has been providing free canes (yearly) to everyone in need. Through our cane program, direct service clients and non-clients have been able to receive a new cane (free of charge) once a year.
On average, a white cane could last about 2 years with normal wear and tear, and you just might have to replace the tip. But we’ve all heard the stories of canes getting broken, lost, even being ran over. And that’s where our popular cane program would come in handy!!
GDABVI would like to continue to be able to support this cause, so beginning October 1st, we are starting our very own cane closet! We will be accepting all new and GENTLY used cane donations to give away to clients in need. A special thanks to a (SPECIAL) donor, we have already received 5 to start us off.

GDABVI New Direction Support Group

October 8th: 12PM-3PM

We will be making candles. it will also be our Halloween party. We are asking clients to donate a bag of candy.

GDABVI Family/Friend Support Group

October 10th: 6:30PM

This group is for those who have a family/friend that is blind/visually impaired. Come, let’s talk and support one another. For more information call 313-591-3786 or email kashonia@gdabvi.org.

White Cane Awareness Day!

October 15th: 12PM-3PM
