To keep 4-H families and volunteers informed on 4-H dates and deadlines, we created a document containing an updated list of county-wide dates and deadlines for the 4-H year. National Volunteer Week is APRIL 21-27 so we wanted to THANK our wonderful volunteers within the Arapahoe County 4-H Program! Thank you for going above and beyond to be there for our 4-H community. You have put in countless hours throughout the year and we couldn’t provide the programs that we do without you.

Our office is hiring a Bilingual Outreach Educator to support 4-H and outreach efforts with Latino youth, families, and volunteers. Congratulations to Evra Jones for representing Arapahoe County at the Regional Speech and Demonstrations Contest, which was held at CSU Spur. She is the Jr. Champion for Demonstrations. Way to go Evra!


We want to see participation go up in this contest. It is a great way to participate, meet new 4-H members from Adams, Weld, Jefferson, and Boulder counties, plus, you can learn about different topics. Some of the topics this year were: Nuclear Science (Evra), 3D printing, Pocket Pets, Gardening and so MUCH more. Please watch for the 2025 date coming soon so you can mark your calendars!

Shooting Sports

Arapahoe County 4-H Shooting Sports Practices


The practice dates can be found on our Dates and Deadlines linked at the beginning of newsletter.


Please be sure to bring your green card to all practices. Click here to sign up to attend the practices.


Sundays there will be Shotgun Sporting Clays Practices Kiowa Creek Sporting Club at 8:30 AM followed by Shooting Sports practice at Sorber’s Ranch at 1:30 PM.


Saturdays starting April 6 there will be Shotgun Skeet Practice at Golden Gun Club at 10:00 AM followed by Shooting Sports practice at Sorber’s Ranch at 1:30 PM.

Livestock

Livestock Providers Needed for Urban Ranchers Day Camp

We are in need of 4-H families who would be willing to bring livestock to the fairgrounds to teach Urban Ranchers campers about livestock and allow for hands-on interaction.

Dates are:

Tuesday, June 4

Thursday, June 6

Friday, June 7


We are looking for the following livestock species: cattle, chickens, dairy goats, meat goats, and llamas/alpacas.


Email Claudia if you would be willing to help!

4-H members must be enrolled in their animal projects by May 1 in 4HOnline.

Otherwise youth will not be able to compete at fair.

Date Change - State Fair Project Drop Off


In the Arapahoe County Fairbook, on page 8 under State Fair Exhibits, it states that Foods and Cake Decorating exhibits selected for State Fair must be brought to the Extension Office no later than 3 PM on Tuesday, August 12. Please make sure and mark your calendars for Monday, August 12 drop-off as our County State Fair Exhibit drop-off date has been changed to a day earlier.

Who loves DONUTS? We believe everyone does! Arapahoe County 4-H Jr. Leaders is doing a fundraiser with Krispy Kreme Doughnuts. The council is raising money with Digital Dozens. The cost will be $14.00 and you will receive a certificate for 1 original glazed dozen. Up to 50% of sales will go directly to the Arapahoe County 4-H Jr. Leaders. The funds will help support the council in their plans for future community service, community events, and endless possibilities. If you are interested, please be in contact with one of your Jr. Leaders that is a representative from your club. If you don’t have one, please email Shaylen, sflorez@arapahoegov.com and she will take your order. We would need payment, either cash or check, by MAY 12 before we make the order for certificates. 

Who wants to EAT?! D3 Senate is doing a fundraiser on WEDNESDAY, MAY 8 for Panda Express. Please click on the image above to go to their event page to learn more about the fundraiser. You can place an order (up to two weeks in advance) and pick up your order for May 8. 28% of the proceeds will go to D3 Senate for those that order and enter in the code specific to D3 Senate (the code is available on their event page). The funds will help support D3 Senate in their plans for future community service, retreat for 8–10-year-olds, and endless possibilities.
