Recent Happenings

ECE Welcomes BIPOC Children’s Authors! 

Felton’s Early Care and Education (ECE) programs welcomed BIPOC (Black, Indigenous and People of Color) children’s authors Krystaelynne Sanders Diggs, Susan Katz, and Rosalyn Adekunle to read aloud to the young children enrolled in these programs.


This initiative is a key focus of ECE as we aim to ensure our young learners see themselves represented in the stories they hear.

Medical Director Dr. Clark presented at The National Medical Association's Convention

Felton Institute received national attention last month when Justice Division Medical Director, Dr. Michelle Clark, presented to the Psychiatry & the Behavioral Sciences Section of The National Medical Association's Annual Convention & Scientific Assembly. The event has been acclaimed as the nation’s foremost forum on medical science and African American health.

Dr. Clark's presentation titled "Restorative Justice in Action: Re-Entry" highlighted the importance of centering restorative justice practices and advocating for the formerly incarcerated who are re-entering society.

Felton’s SFSP Attends Mackey’s Korner Suicide Prevention Block Party

SFSP was honored to support and table at Mackey’s Korner Suicide Prevention Block Party in San Francisco. The nonprofit organization, named after 12-year-old Jamahl Mackey Jr. who tragically took his own life, provides resources and brings awareness to suicide prevention.

Serving the community with compassion and care, SFSP provides a 24/7 confidential hotline, educational trainings on prevention and crisis intervention for organizations and schools, and peer-led grief support groups.

Dialing Hope: The Impact of CIRCE on SAMHSA’s 988 Crisis Lifeline Management in San Francisco

In 2022, as part of an ongoing commitment to innovation, the CIRCE team developed a robust 988 call management, data tracking, and staff and volunteer scheduling system in partnership with Felton Institute’s San Francisco Suicide Prevention (SFSP) crisis hotline.
