FOSTERING SAVES LIVES

Bella and Sierra Find Their Forever Foster Home!

At Justin Bartlett Animal Rescue, we celebrate every adoption and every foster placement as a victory for our beloved animals. This month, we are thrilled to share the heartwarming story of Bella and Sierra, two senior dogs who have finally found a loving foster home.

Bella, an 11-year-old sweetheart, has a history with Justin Bartlett Animal Rescue. Adopted as a puppy in 2013, her life should have been filled with love and care. Unfortunately, Bella’s reality was far from that. She suffered abuse at the hands of her owners, resulting in severe injuries, including a luxating patella in both her knees. After enduring years of neglect and mistreatment, Bella was abandoned on the streets and eventually returned to us. Understandably, Bella’s trust in humans was shattered. Sierra, a gentle 10-year-old soul, has her own story of resilience. She was found as a stray in Miami when she was young and came to our rescue in 2019. Despite her arthritis, which limits her activity, Sierra’s love for affection knows no bounds. She revels in being petted, especially when it comes to hip scratches or massages.

Years went by as Bella and Sierra waited at our rescue, their hopes of finding a loving home slowly fading. Their eyes, once filled with hope, became accustomed to the routine of rescue life. Despite the love and care they received from our team, it was evident that they longed for a home where they could truly belong.

Over the years, Bella and Sierra bonded at our rescue, providing each other with companionship and comfort. Their unique friendship was heartwarming, but what they truly needed was a loving home. Enter Stacey, a former vet tech and groomer who now works at a rehabilitation center for addicts. Stacey’s background and compassion made her the perfect foster parent for Bella and Sierra.

“They are complete lovebirds,” Stacey shares, describing the deep bond between the two dogs. Stacey’s home is now filled with the love and joy that Bella and Sierra bring, and the two dogs are thriving under her care. For the first time in years, Bella and Sierra have a backyard to play in and cozy beds to sleep on. They have found a haven where they can feel safe, loved, and cherished.

Fostering is a crucial part of animal rescue. It provides a temporary, loving environment for animals who are waiting for their forever homes. Fostering not only saves lives but also helps animals like Bella and Sierra heal from their past traumas. By opening your heart and home to a foster pet, you provide them with the love and care they desperately need, making a profound impact on their lives.

At Justin Bartlett Animal Rescue, we are always in need of compassionate foster families. If Bella and Sierra’s story has touched your heart, consider becoming a foster parent. Your kindness can change the life of an animal in need and bring immeasurable joy to your home.

The Importance of Pet Dental Health

The Importance of Pet Dental Health

At Justin Bartlett Animal Rescue, we believe in the holistic well-being of our furry friends, and dental health plays a vital role in their overall happiness and longevity. This month, we're excited to share the inspiring story of Rosie, a sweet 7-year-old rescue, and her transformative dental care journey.

Rosie's story began on the streets of the Redlands, where she faced numerous challenges before finding her way to our rescue. Despite her rough start, Rosie's resilient spirit shone through, and she eventually found a loving home. But one aspect of her care had been overlooked—her dental health.

Sometimes, we forget how crucial dental care is for our pets. Poor dental hygiene can lead to pain, infections, and other health issues, significantly impacting their quality of life. Rosie’s dental health had been neglected before she came to our rescue, but her new owner, Janet, ensured she received the care she needed. Rosie received her very first dental treatment thanks to the expert care of Dr. Koerselman at Justin Bartlett Animal Hospital. The results were nothing short of miraculous. Rosie's beautiful smile now gleams with health and vitality, a testament to the importance of dental care.

Dr. Koerselman emphasizes that dental health is just as important for pets as it is for humans. Regular dental check-ups and cleanings can prevent a host of issues, from bad breath to serious infections. By ensuring our pets have healthy mouths, we can significantly enhance their overall well-being and happiness.

Let’s remember to take care of our pets' dental health. Here are a few tips to ensure your furry friend’s mouth stays healthy:

  • Regular Vet Visits: Schedule annual dental check-ups with your vet.
  • Daily Brushing: Brush your pet’s teeth daily with pet-safe toothpaste.
  • Dental Chews: Provide dental chews and toys that help clean their teeth.
  • Healthy Diet: Feed a balanced diet that supports dental health.

By incorporating these simple practices into your pet care routine, you can make a significant difference in their health and happiness. Rosie’s sparkling smile is a joyful reminder of the benefits of good dental care.

For those in need of pet dental services, Justin Bartlett Animal Hospital offers exceptional care with two convenient locations in Greenacres and Royal Palm Beach. Dr. Koerselman and her team are dedicated to ensuring your pets receive the best dental care possible. To schedule an appointment, please call 561-795-9999.

Sponsor Spotlight: Gail of PupTown Parties

We are incredibly grateful for the support of our community and sponsors who go above and beyond to make a difference in the lives of our rescue animals. This month, we shine the spotlight on Gail, the owner of Puptown Parties, whose generosity and dedication have had a tremendous impact on our rescue dogs.

Gail has been a participant, donor, and supporter of our rescue since last year, shortly after moving to our community about two years ago. Since then, she has supported us through various events, including Valentine's Day Pet Photos, the Run Walk Four Paws (She walked one of our dogs, Mooney), and more.

Recently, Gail made a significant difference for our furry friends in a truly heartwarming way. She hosted a party through her business, inviting five of our rescue dogs to enjoy a day of freedom and fun in a spacious yard, leash-free. It was a joyous sight to see, as most of their days are spent in cages at our rescue, with limited opportunities to run and play. Although our staff ensures they get regular walks, baths, and meals, nothing compares to the exhilaration of running freely in a large yard, playing with each other without constraints.

Gail’s kindness didn't stop there. She took a significant step by opening her heart and home to one of our long-term rescue dogs, Zoidberg. Zoidberg spent two years at our rescue, often overlooked due to his age. Despite our best efforts, finding a foster or adopter for Zoidberg was challenging.

Gail’s decision to foster Zoidberg marked a monumental change in his life. For the first time, Zoidberg experienced the warmth and comfort of a home, along with a yard he could call his own, albeit temporarily. Gail shared, “Zoidberg is an angel. He is always well-behaved, learns quickly, and is very smart. He's just a great dog.”

Gail’s dedication to fostering is clear. She said, “I am a big advocate of fostering for animals, and I want to be a role model for others. I believe in Justin Bartlett Animal Rescue's mission and I believe in always rescuing and adopting before buying from a breeder.”

Gail offers birthday parties for dogs through Puptown Parties. These parties provide dogs with experiences filled with fun, happiness, and socialization. She does all the legwork for the party and brings the celebration to you, offering different levels of packages that include cakes, running around with other dogs, and more. To support our rescue dogs further, Gail is going to host monthly birthday parties for us to help them get adopted.
