Riding the Summer Heat Wave

Three workers set up a ladder and other equipment to prepare to restore power in an underground vault during a power outage.

The City was hit with a late summer heat wave over the weekend and crews worked around the clock to restore power to all those affected as quickly and safely as possible. We are proud to report that our system is now recovering from the impacts of the recent heat wave. Thank you to our LADWP crews who worked tirelessly around the clock on 16-hour shifts in 100+ degree weather since Friday.

We appreciate your patience as our crews worked to restore power across the city as quickly and safely as possible. Over the coming days, our crews will continue working to make permanent repairs in areas where temporary repairs were made to restore power more quickly.

Should you experience an outage in the future, you can go to ladwp.com/outages to report it, check the status of repairs, or sign up to receive outage notifications. You can also call 1-800-DIAL-DWP (1-800-342-5397). To protect customer safety and privacy, we do not post the location of outages affecting only one customer.

Recycled Water Fill Stations Reopen to the Public

In August, LADWP opened two of several planned City of Los Angeles Recycled Water Fill Stations where customers can obtain recycled water for free.

Recycled water is great for irrigation but should never be used for drinking. It is perfect for landscaping uses, such as watering trees or lawns. It can also be used to water edible crops like garden vegetables – just make sure to wash items well in drinking water prior to eating them. Using recycled water for irrigation helps support the conservation of drinking water.

LADWP customers can receive up to 300 free gallons of recycled water per visit. To participate, bring a copy of your LADWP bill and your own water-tight containers to the fill stations. There is also a mandatory brief on-site training, application and agreement form to complete.

Three jugs of recycled water with a label that reads, “To support conservation LADWP provides recycled water for irrigation. DO NOT DRINK.”

Safety stickers are provided at the stations to label containers as recycled water not suitable for drinking.

So far, Recycled Water Fill Stations are available at these locations and times. Please note that all locations are closed on rainy days and holidays:
