Lincoln Garel joined his Hands4Hope Club at Union Mine High School in September 2022. In such a short period since then, he has taken on leadership positions through his Club, participated with after-school Committees, and has volunteered for many outreach events totaling over 118 hours of service so far! Read on to learn more about why Lincoln has directed so much of his time to Hands4Hope participation.
Last week, Hands4Hope youth participants and their families gathered on a breezy warm evening to enjoy a refreshing Kona Ice and celebrate and recognize youth accomplishments from the 2023-24 program year. There was much to celebrate, as youth broke Hands4Hope records in number of hours served, number of people and animals who benefited, and the teams who received the President's Volunteer Service Award. Can you guess how many total service hours youth logged?
The heat wave didn't stop the Kids Zone Committee from seeing this highly-anticipated youth-led fundraiser event through to its success! More than 150 children participated in the event's many bounce houses, face painting, magic shows, DJ, games, and more. Ultimately, through wristband sales, concession sales, and sponsorships, Kids Zone 2024 raised $7,000 for the Hands4Hope Education Program.
Thank you to the "Star Spangled" sponsors of this event: El Dorado Hills Town Center, McDonalds, Bounce House Rentals, and Folsom Times.
We are so grateful to our community who gave so generously to the 11th Annual Hands4Hope School Supply Drive. Youth have been working hard to sort and count all the donations to make sure there is enough for the expected 700+ students who will receive them. Volunteers are needed on Monday and Tuesday to assist with set up and distribution. If you've never had a chance to be part of this event, it is truly special to see those smiles as students "shop" for their items and feel more ready for their new school year.
Leslie brings her boundless energy to all her deep involvement in the Folsom and El Dorado Hills areas as a business owner, volunteer, and caring resident. She first encountered Hands4Hope - Youth Making A Difference at a Rotary Club meeting. Since then, she has provided support in various capacities, including acting as a collection site for Hands4Hope drives at her Folsom business, partnering with a youth as a Big Day of Giving team, providing the gorgeous decorations at the Harris Center Nashville Songwriters Live fundraiser concert, and now she is leading the Endless Summer Beach Party auction subcommittee. She has found ways to leverage her unique set of talents, and we are grateful to count her as an adult volunteer! Read on to learn more about Leslie's experience with Hands4Hope.
The 4th Annual Hands4Hope Endless Summer Beach Party will be one you don't want to miss! Join us on September 28 for an adults-only evening of delicious catered dinner, local beer and wine, dancing and games with a live band, and incredible silent auctions and raffles. Plus, this year we will be joined by special guests from a galaxy "Far far away", courtesy of the 501st Legion Central California Garrison. Early bird pricing goes away on August 25 so act now to save! If you would like to contribute items, gift cards, or experiences to the silent auction, please reach out.
With gratitude and appreciation, we must share the retirement of Steve Backers from the Hands4Hope Board of Directors. Steve has served on the Hands4Hope - Youth Making A Difference Board of Directors since 2017, including acting as Board Chair from 2018-2021. He has worked tirelessly to advocate for Hands4Hope, raise funds for our programs, and support Hands4Hope youth in numerous ways. Without Steve, Hands4Hope would not be where we are today. Please join us in saying "Thank you, Steve Backers" and read more about his involvement.
David and Sharon Handler have generously supported Hands4Hope - Youth Making A Difference through sponsorship for many years. This year, they chose to provide additional support to the School Supply Drive. Sharon Handler told us, "The first day of school is an exciting time for children. It can also be a time of uncertainty and apprehension, which is the reason we donated to the School Supply Drive. This program gives underprivileged children a new backpack filled with new school supplies. It is a fantastic way to help these school children feel confident and prepared for the new year." We are so grateful for the Handler's support of Hands4Hope in so many meaningful ways!
