Providing compliance reminders and resources all summer!

This week’s topic: The Office of University Compliance and how we support an effective compliance program.

About the Office of University Compliance

You might know us as the team behind Annual Compliance and Ethics Training, or the people who respond to compliance questions and concerns. These are just a few of the important ways we support UConn's decentralized compliance program.

The Office of University Compliance (OUC) promotes and supports a University-wide culture of compliance and ethics on all UConn campuses in the following ways.

Collaboration

We partner with units who have varying compliance responsibilities. To learn more about what they do, and even how they can help you, check out the listing of compliance partners on our website.

Training and Education

We provide innovative and accessible opportunities to build awareness, receive training, and further develop an understanding of compliance-related topics. In addition to Annual Compliance & Ethics Training, we offer Compliance Chatters, webinars, video clips, and more. Check out our Resource Catalog.

Ethics Resources

As state employees, it is our individual responsibility to abide by The State Code of Ethics. UConn's Associate Vice President and Chief Compliance Officer, Kimberly Fearney, is also the Ethics Liaison for UConn and UConn Health. Employees are encouraged to reach out with questions related to The State Code of Ethics.

Policy Management

Policies and procedures are essential to daily operations and are the foundation of the compliance program. The OUC works to facilitate and support the policy management process.

Reporting Mechanisms

UConn welcomes and encourages good faith reporting of compliance concerns. Anyone can request guidance or report a compliance concern by contacting our office directly or through the University's Reportline. Learn more about what happens after you submit a report.

Privacy Program

The University's Privacy Program, housed within the OUC, serves as a central resource for all non-healthcare privacy matters. The Privacy Program provides guidance on privacy-related rules and best practices to protect the privacy rights of students, employees, and other individuals within the University community; ensures appropriate access, use, and disclosure of personal information; and promotes a culture of value and respect for privacy and the protection of personal information across the University.
