Rubber City Heritage Trail

The Rubber City Heritage Trail is a multi-year project that will create a multipurpose trail that will provide a safe route for active transportation. Not only will the Rubber City Heritage Trail link several neighborhoods in the City of Akron, but it will also connect with the regional trail network. The City of Akron worked with GDP Group to complete a feasibility study and develop a preliminary design for the Rubber City Heritage Trail. The trail is being designed and constructed in nine phases. The Rubber City Heritage Trail is currently beginning construction of phase 1 and design of phase 2.

Summit County Creating Healthy Communities has partnered with the City of Akron, Ohio & Erie Canalway Coalition, The Well CDC and Neighborhood Network to engage the public in the planning process. There will be a two opportunities in March for the public to review the draft plan and provide feedback on the design:

Tuesday, March 5, 2024 from 6:00pm to 8:00pm at Family of Faith United Methodist Church (800 E Market St, Akron, OH 44305)

Monday, March 11, 2024 from 6:00pm to 8:00pm at the Well CDC (647 E Market St, Akron, OH 44304)
