What's the call?

The problem is we don't know unless you inform us. We are talking about Terms of Call for installed pastors in our Presbytery.

Each year the Commission on Ministry is tasked to collect the terms from all of our active, installed ministries. The deadline is approaching: April 30.

Holidays are nearly here

Holy Week begins in two days on Palm Sunday... though you probably already knew that.

What you may not have known is that your Presbytery office will be closed on April 18 and 21 for Good Friday and Easter Monday.

Disability and accessibility

The Rev. Christina Tutterow will be leading two gatherings this month on disability and accessibility as it pertains to the church.

The presentations will be in the Walkup building at Montreat Conference Center on April 23 and 30 beginning at 4 p.m. Each presentation should run about an hour.

On April 23 the topic is Hidden in Plain Sight: The Biblical Disability We Have Overlooked.

The April 30 session is titled Church Speak: Communicating Accessibility, Inclusion and Solidarity.

For more information you may email the Rev. Tutterow.

Still waiting on a K-1? Should be on its way shortly

Cameron Motley, administrator for the Synod of the Mid-Atlantic, notified Stated Clerks this week about requests from Kate B. Reynolds Funds recipients concerning K-1 forms. Apparently Wells Fargo has received numerous direct communication attempts from individuals claiming to be retired pastors on the KBR distribution list.

Wells Fargo is not authorized to provide those forms. Motley advises that all requests for electronic K-1s must go through presbytery offices.

Our office has requested copies for all recipient-members of the Presbytery of Western North Carolina and will distribute them as soon as they are received.

COMING UP ON THE CALENDAR

APRIL 18-21: Presbytery office closed for Good Friday and Easter Monday

Outreach funding available

We know for the church to thrive it must extend its reach beyond the sanctuary walls, but it often requires money.

The Presbytery's Church Vibrancy Team wants to encourage outward-focused efforts in our congregations, so it is introducing Community Outreach Grants.

Grants can be up to $5,000, so put on your thinking caps to develop new ideas to engage your members with the communities they live in.

Join the Microloan Delegation this fall as we visit the Guatemalan women we support

The Microloan Task Force is planning its next delegation trip to Guatemala for late October or early November.

Trip participants will spend time with the Guatemalan Microloan Staff and visit microloan groups and some of their businesses. The group will also spend time learning about Guatemalan history, culture, and geography.

The cost is $1,800 per person which includes accommodations, transportation, airfare, and meals. It does not cover personal preparation expenses, such as passports and immunizations. A deposit of $900 is due by July 1.

Sue Barrett is sharing origami peace doves with a Microloan recipient during our last trip.
