Description:

This workshop will provide the basics of play therapy, what it is and how it works to bring about healing for children and families. Participants will also have an opportunity to participate in role play and get a taste of directive play therapy techniques. Come prepared to also learn how to become a Registered Play Therapist™! 

Presenter: Sonia Hinds, APRN, PMH-BC, RPT-S™ 

Sonia Hinds, APRN, PMH-BC, RPT-S™ is the Founder and CEO of Chesapeake Beach Professional Seminars. and Founder and Executive Director of Barstow Acres Children’s Center, a non-profit practice providing children's mental health services. She is a 24-year military veteran having served 5 years in the Army Nurse Corps and 19 years with the US Public Health Service as a Commissioned Corps Officer. Ms. Hinds is trained in Gestalt Play Therapy with Violet Oaklander (retired) and Child-Centered. She also authored chapters in Play Therapy in the African-American Village and Cultural Issues in Play Therapy, edited by Eliana Gil, PhD, RPT-S™ and Athena Drewes, PsyD, RPT-S™. Ms. Hinds received the MD/DC APT 2019 Outstanding Service Award.

Cancellation Policy:

Written notification of cancellation must be received in our office at least 10 business days prior to a training for a refund. A $25.00 cancellation fee will be deducted from the refund. There will be no refund for cancellation notification less than 10 business days.

CBPS reserves the right to cancel a training due to inclement weather or insufficient enrollment. In the event of such cancellation, you will receive a full refund. 

Cancelling your Zoom meeting registration does not constitute cancellation of your CBPS session registration. Please refer to our cancellation policy in the training announcement, which supersedes all other mentions of options to cancel your registration.

Chesapeake Beach Professional Seminars (CBPS) is approved by the National Association of School Psychologists to offer professional development for school Psychologists, provider #1067. CBPS maintains responsibility for the program. 

CLINICAL PSYCHOLOGISTS  

The Maryland and Washington, DC Boards of Psychology Examiners Recognizes national Association of School Psychologist approval status with CBPS and grants CE hours to clinical psychologists in Maryland and Washington, DC.

Chesapeake Professional Seminars (CBPS) is an Association for Play Therapy (APT) approved provider of continuing education, APT Approved Provider #97-034.

ART THERAPISTS

Art Therapists (LCPAT, ATR-BC) may obtain CE Hours based on our NBCC approval status.

NEW YORK SOCIAL WORKERS, LICENSED MENTAL HEALTH PRACTICIONERS, and PSYCHOLOGIST

CBPS is recognized by the New York State Education Department’s Board of Social Work, Provider #0122; and the Board of Mental Health Practitioners, Licensed Mental Health Counselors, Provider #MHC-0009.

CBPS is also approved for psychologists in NY Provider Number: #PSY-0070.
