2024 Caregiver Conference
We hope you were able to attend the 16th annual Caregiver Conference, held on March 7 at the Courtyard Marriott in Oxnard, where we showed our appreciation to about 200 people that came to the event. You may have heard the phrase, "use it or lose it." You use your muscles to keep your body strong. The same is also true for your brain. When you use your brain, you keep your mind sharp. In this session, learn what you can do to keep your brain active and healthy.

Paid Disability Awareness Training
In this class, you will learn about disability etiquette guidelines and different types of disabilities from physical to hidden ones, showing respect and sensitivity to people with disabilities.
New classes for 2024 are available for IHSS providers. This training is offered thru the IHSS Career Pathways program. Reminder: IHSS providers that complete trainings offered through the IHSS Career Pathways program are eligible to submit a training time claim and get paid for their time completing these courses.
Below are the upcoming dates for Disability Awareness training. This is an online training. If you are interested in registering for this class, please call the Public Authority office at 805-654-3416.
English Session: Thursday, April 11, 2024, from 2:30-4 p.m.
Spanish Session: Thursday, April 18, 2024, from 2:30-4 p.m.

Caregiver Support Group
Information about the Caregiver Support Group at Community Memorial Hospital was shared at the Caregiver Conference. In case you missed it, this support group for caregivers meets every Thursday and is available for free to all who care for loved ones with medical, psychological or substance abuse issues or that have developmental disabilities.
No registration is required. Participants meet in the lobby of Community Memorial Hospital, which is located at 147 North Brent Street in Ventura.
The support group meets next on the following dates from 3-4 p.m.: March 21, March 28, April 4 and April 11.

Important Reminder: Ventura County has moved from MyBenefitsCalwin to a new system called BenefitsCal.com.
ALL Medi-Cal, CalFresh, CalWORKs and General Relief clients who wish to maintain access to check benefits status or renew their benefits online, report changes, and upload documents must:
1. Go to BenefitsCal.com and select “log In.”
2. Create a new account using your email address.
3. Link your account to your case.
