Kathy's Message

Whoo Hoo...we are off to quite the start in 2024!

Big kudos to Jorge Garcia, our new Executive Director / Chapter Lead who is off to an amazing start in his new role! We are seeing lots of engagement with this new format newsletter. Hope you are enjoying it!

And now the next step...engaging more members and growing our California Desert chapter. We need your help!

As we try to engage our younger design professionals, I'm excited to share with you the upcoming AIA AEP (Academy for Emerging Professionals) summit taking place in Sacramento, CA on Saturday, March 16th. The summit is free for those who would like to attend and includes "leadership discussions and exploration of equity, diversity, and inclusion (EDI)" with notable speakers.  Due to travel and accommodation expenses, AIA California is contributing one $250 stipend and our CA Desert Chapter is matching that for a total of (1) $500 expense stipend to be raffled off to an Emerging Professional who has applied. If you have young EP's in your office that would benefit from this seminar, please encourage them to sign up and submit their names for the stipend. (An EP is defined as "professionals who have completed their academic studies up to the point of licensure or up to 10 years after completion of their academic studies.")

One last thing...if you have projects that we can tour or ideas for meet-ups, please let us know. Likewise if you have project images, sketches to share on social media, we are always looking for content. Send our way and we will post and tag you.

And if you are not following us on Instagram, please do so and share our site with others!   @aia-cdc

Thanks,

Kathy
