CONTRACTOR EDITION

CERTIFIED PAYROLL RECORDS AND THE NEW JERSEY WAGE HUB

In the January 9, 2024, issue of “The Masonry Update”, we informed you of legislation signed by Governor Murphy requiring public works contractors to submit certified payroll records online through The New Jersey Wage Hub. The mandate takes effect August 15, 2024, at which time contractors performing public work will be required to report certified payroll records BOTH online and in hard copy.

Public Works Contractors Required to Report Certified Payroll Records Online Starting August 15.  The NJDOL is sending notices to public bodies and registered public works contractors to remind them of this requirement. If you haven’t already done so, be sure to create your account on the Hub’s online portal, prior to August 15. Click here for Contractor user guides and detailed instructions.

The Hub was launched last summer and has since been enhanced with features that make it easier to comply with state labor laws. It also helps state officials collect and analyze the information more easily to help improve enforcement and compliance. Additionally, it is available to the public for inspection; anyone in the state can access and review certified payroll records that have been submitted through the Hub.

BAC ADC of NEW JERSEY HIRES NEW JERSEY LABOR SHIELD

"We understand that the construction industry is tougher than ever,” said John Capo, Director, BAC ADC of New Jersey. "BAC ADC’s Labor Management Committee hired New Jersey Labor Shield, a group dedicated to protecting workers and law-abiding contractors from unscrupulous labor practices.  Kevin Triplett, formerly the Bureau Chief of Investigation with the NJDOL, joined forces with Steve van Oyen, a former NJDOL investigator, to launch New Jersey Labor Shield. The firm helps unions and other organizations ensure contractors comply with all NJDOL requirements, payroll and certified payroll, worker’s compensation, OSHA, etc. and will file complaints on their behalf.”

If you are concerned about the labor practices of a contractor and would like New Jersey Labor Shield to file a complaint, please contact Masonry Contractors of New Jersey or the union.
