Courtside Connections (a program put on by our basketball ministry - 340 FCA Hoops) continues to provide weekly opportunities for local middle and high schoolers to enjoy an afternoon of basketball, building relationships, and growing in character and faith. Each session not only provides plenty of basketball fun, but also gives athletes a chance to learn about a variety of character traits, how they are connected to God's Word, and ultimately how they can apply it all to their everyday lives.

Our weekly chapel meetings at Free Will Baptist Christian School continued over the past month with several great lessons for students in grades 1 through 12. We learned how to face our giants through the story of David and Goliath (1 Samuel 17), were challenged to put on the full armor of God (Ephesians 6:10-18), asked tough questions about our "passion" to leave it all behind and pursue Jesus (Matthew 1:17-18), and studied a Psalm of comfort (Psalm 23).

We recently had an opportunity to provide training for some local coaches. Using the 3D Institute's model of coaching athletes in all three dimensions (body, mind and spirit), we focused on a couple of key topics in the 2nd dimension (mind). Specifically, we were able to help the coaches think about how they can motivate athletes in positive ways that ultimately lead to self-motivated athletes and a desire to perform at the highest levels. We also discussed developing confidence in their athletes by taking them from a fixed mindset to a growth mindset. Probably one of the biggest takeaways is the fact that taking the time to invest in the lives of our athletes and showing them that you genuinely love and care for them will not only lead to improved performance, but will help them develop in ways that translate into life beyond their sport.

With the arrival of spring marks the home stretch for most of us in terms of another school year. Emily and Jada are headed into the final quarter of the 2024-25 school year with a week of spring break still ahead of them before making the final push to the finish line towards the end of May.

Isaac has about a month remaining in his spring courses while he continues his football training. He recently received an offer to play football at a Division 2 school in Detroit next fall but continues to weigh his options as his training intensifies over the next month and conversations with coaches continue.

Brady will be transitioning back to St. Croix at the beginning of April as he seeks God's guidance for next steps in his life for this summer, next fall and beyond.

I (Matt) will be very busy over the next month or so as I prepare the newly acquired bus for ministry while continuing our current programming and planning opportunities for the summer.
