The Lake Current - March 2024
Welcome to the March 2024 edition of our Council newsletter!

This month's newsletter is a bit shorter than usual, but we're still giving you the important news you need about upcoming events.

  • Our next regular business meeting will be this Wednesday, March 13th, starting at 7:30 p.m. Dinner for $5 will be at 6:30, as usual. All members are welcome. We will be presenting a donation to St. James parish from our Beefsteak fundraiser.

  • If you have not already done so, please make your 2024 dues payment by mailing it to Worthy FS Mike Rama or by paying at the March business meeting on 3/13. Your prompt payment helps keep our Council going and saves us the expense of sending out dues reminders. Thank you to all members who have already paid!

  • LAST CALL! If you have not already let WGK Tim know that you are coming to the Westchester-Putnam Chapter Awards Gala on Sunday, March 24th, please do so immediately! We'll be honoring brother Sir Knight Steve Gheduzzi and our Ladies Auxiliary will be honoring Past President Allison Keating, at Mulino's at Lake Isle in Eastchester from noon to 5 p.m. The cost is $95 per person, which includes a fantastic cocktail hour, dinner, desert, wine, beer and soda. Reservations and pre-payment are absolutely required!

  • Fish Fry Every Friday through March 22nd: Our first four weeks of our Lenten Fish Fry Fridays have been very successful, thanks to our Fish Fry Crew, which has even more new and incredibly helpful volunteers. Due to limited supplies and the need to prepare for our orders in advance, you must pre-order by Thursday evening through our order website: carmelfishfry.com. Thanks to all of our loyal customers for your continuing support!

  • Become a Sir Knight! If you are interested in receiving the honors of the Patriotic Degree of our Order and joining the ranks of the Fourth Degree, please see the item about the upcoming Fourth Degree Exemplification in the Fourth Degree News section below.

  • Visit our Lounge on St. Patrick's Day! Our Lounge will be open on Sunday, March 17th, for our members, Ladies Auxiliary, and guests. Please watch our social media accounts for an announcement about special food and drink offerings. (Our social media links at the bottom of our newsletter now include our new Instagram account. Add your follow today!)
  • This Month's "Draft Beer of the Month" is Smithwick's Imported Premium Irish Ale. It's a classic Irish Red Ale with a distinctive ruby red color and a refreshingly balanced taste, blending mild hops, sweet malt, and roasted barley. The gentle bitterness of the hops is perfectly complemented by the sweet, malty notes. So ask for a draft “Smih-diks” next time you're in the Lounge, and enjoy a pint of Ireland's finest!

  • While you're in our Lounge, ask your friendly bartender about their new line of super-premium and artisan tequila and mezcal selections from Jose Cuervo, Casamigos, Leyenda del Milagro, One With Life Organic, Banhez and other fine distilleries.
