A Safe Summertime:

Heat Safety & Awareness

While the start of 2024 here in Orange County spent more time cool and gray than not, this summer is shaping up to have plenty of the same bright, hot California sun that we're all used to. Here at the Sandbox, we want to ensure our Coastline family stays safe inside and outside the classroom, so enjoy these helpful tips for staying safe in the summer heat. Remember, a safe summer is a fun summer!

3 Tips to Stay Safe in the Sun

  1. Apply sunscreen - again, and again, and again. One application usually isn't enough for a full day of protection. Reapply at least once more during the day - even if it's overcast.
  2. Wear a hat. Not only will it protect parts of your face, but many people forget that even your scalp can get sunburned if not protected.
  3. Hydrate, then hydrate some more. Water, water, water. There're many ways to protect your body outside from heat, but water is the best way to protect from the inside.
