Do you Feel Called to Give?

At Pathways To Peace, we know that a gift of any amount grows exponentially when given with love. We hope that today, on Giving Tuesday, you will remember us and the work we do to build a Culture of Peace and a world that works for all.

Check Out the Story of the Girl's Shelter on our Website!

If you feel called to give to a project that is so meaningful on so many levels, we hope you’ll consider supporting The Avon Mattison Girls Shelter in Guinea. https://pathwaystopeace.org/programs/the-girls-shelter-in-guinea/ In our website, you will see the back story about the Girls Shelter, see photos and videos of our Guinea partners, get a tour of the Girls Shelter, hear from one of the girls in the shelter, hear the song and see the lyrics that were composed by a Guinean artist for the opening of the Girls Shelter, and so much more!

We can’t even imagine the courage it takes for these brave young girls to stand for themselves, knowing the consequences of family rejection and community stigma.

We opened the Shelter on the International Day of Peace, September 21st, with much jubilation! On that day, two brave young girls moved into the Shelter. Within two short weeks of receiving compassionate care and support in a safe, secure, and loving home, these young girls began to imagine a better future for themselves. They are now enrolled in school and pursuing their dreams. It amazed us at how resilient these girls are, and that it takes so little for the girls to recover enough to take charge of their lives after such a devastating experience. We have had the privilege to get to know them and are so proud of them! They are visible role models that give permission for other girls to be brave enough to say no.

Our partners in Guinea are courageous, respected, and credible advocates of ending gender-based violence in all forms, including female genital mutilation and forced child marriage. Their willingness to educate their community is what gives girls the courage to say “no” to these cultural practices that have life-long emotional, physical, sexual, and spiritual consequences. Through their efforts, local dignitaries and authorities have come into the girl's shelter project to stand in solidarity against these long-held cultural practices that diminish the health, well-being, and community contributions of women and girls.

This is having an evolutionary impact on the community to begin to move away from these practices.

Hubcast Media is going to Guinea!

Peter Young, Founder and President of Hubcast Media, was so moved by the story of the Girls Shelter in Guinea, that he asked for us to work together to tell the story broadly. We immediately said “yes!” and we’ve been off and running! Hubcast Media works to bring stories of peace, change, and empowerment from areas of the world that are often not heard from.

Peter is going to be in Guinea on December 10th – December 18th. In his time there, he will be documenting the stories of the Girls Shelter (stay tuned for future broadcasts of the documentary.) In our more expanded vision, Peter will also be bringing equipment to leave in Guinea for a portable broadcast station. He will be training Kismet, our local artist/musician, in video production.

The Guinea Girls Shelter project has become a catalyst for the development of a Hubcast Media Broadcast Station - a community hub in Guinea that can provide video production services that can help support the Girls Shelter. The Hubcast Media Broadcast Station in Rowanda was the first of its kind, now next in line for 2024 is Guinea – inspired by the Girls Shelter!

100% of Donations to Support the Girls Shelter

We have an annual budget of $20,000.00 to support the Girls Shelter, and we’ve raised a little more than half of that amount – thanks to those who have responded to the call to give.  Our work with Hubcast Media has increased our Girls Shelter budget and our need for additional funding. A gift of any amount is greatly appreciated and lets us know that you care about the girls in the shelter, the girls that will be coming into the shelter looking for support, and our work to end this barbaric 2000-year-old practice that is deeply embedded in the culture. A gift given in love is never too small!
