TASTE DELICIOUS WHITE AND RED VALUES

FROM THE LOIRE SATURDAY FROM 1-4pm

Centuries before Bordeaux came to prominence the Loire Valley was France's most important wine region. Tomorrow we'll taste you on four great examples that show the regions diversity So stop by Mt. Carmel Wine & Spirits Co. this Saturday, March 29th, from 1-4pm. It's free to all so please stop by!

These outstanding wine values just arrived

2022 Clos Bellane Côtes du Rhône Villages "Petite Bellane"

A unique Cotes du Rhone in that it is 100% Syrah instead of the typical Grenache dominant examples. It still has that bit of garrigue but with bright blackberry fruit and fine tannins. It's practically irresistible with a variety of dishes and will be perfect with bbq fare as the weather warms.

$16.99

2023 Nicolas Reau Anjou Cabernet Franc "Ange"

The Anjou, located in the western Loire, might not carry the reputation for producing quality wines that its neighboring regions do but good wine values abound there. This Cabernet Franc from Nicolas is a perfect example. It has bright black berry fruit with a wonderful earthy quality that keeps your interest up. This goes great with chicken, duck, and vegetarian dishes.

$17.99

2022 Armand Heitz Julienas

Cru Beaujolais wines have only been getting better in quality. Armand Heitz, a practicing organic Burgundy producer based in Chassagne Montrachet, purchased a south-facing hillside vineyard in Julienas composed of schist and blue stone, very much like those found in the neighboring Cote de Brouilly. From the deep color in the glass to the rich earthy nose you can tell this is a wine of substance. On the palette the delicious Gamay fruit fills the palette, displaying class and length. This has everything you could hope for in a top-flight Cru Beaujolais.

$28.99

2021 Franco Serra Langhe Nebbiolo

This has the floral richness, delicious fruit, and firm tannic structure you look for in a quality Langhe Nebbiolo. What really makes it all the more attractive is the ridiculously low price.

$15.99

other great new arrivals

2023 The Retreat Sauvignon Blanc, Marlborough New Zealand

New Zealand is most renowned here for its Sauvignon Blancs which are typically more varietal than those from France or California. This has all the characteristics you look for in a quality example, just at a price we haven't seen in many years.

$9.99 ($14.99 rec.)

Franc Terroir Cinsault Rose, 1 liter bottle

In red wines the Cinsault grape is typically used in Rhone blends but on its own makes for a wonderful Rose. This has bright strawberry and raspberry fruit that finishes dry. Although it comes in a plastic bottle this has none of that cheap bubble gum quality we find in so many of the less expensive Roses. It's simply refreshing and delicious. What's even better? It comes in a full liter bottle.

$9.99 for a 1 liter bottle (sells for over $13 elsewhere)

GRAB THESE CLOSEOUTS BEFORE THEY'RE GONE

We were able to get more, now at a new lower price

2018 Domaine del'Alliance Bordeaux Blanc Sec "Extérieur"

Despite being relative newcomers to the wine industry Daniel and Valerie Alibrand purchased a modest 17 acre property comprised of old vines in the town of Fargues in Sauternes in 2005. It didn't take very long before their expressive whites gained glowing recognition. Their Extérieur is a wonderful example of their signature style. Sourced from vineyards in Barsac, Entre Deux Mers, and Cote de Franc, it's comprised of 70% Sauvignon Blanc and 30% Semillon, vintified and aged on its lees for a year in neutral oak barrels. It is almost bone dry. What gives this wine so much interest is that the Semillon was picked with some of that botrytis, also known as noble rot, that Sauternes are renowned for. The result is a wine of remarkable clarity and minerality but finishing with a wonderful honeyed quality that makes it almost irresistible. This makes for a wonderful food wine, pairing well with fish, roasted chicken, and soft cheeses. A Kermit Lynch selection.

$24.99 (was $37.99)

2023 Petit Bourgeois Rose de Pinot Noir, Loire Valley France

Henri Bourgeois is one of the Loire Valley's most noted producers of Sancerre. This Petit Bourgeois is absolutely delicious, displaying its Pinot Noir character as well as or better than any other Pinot Noir Rose we've come across. It's intriguingly fruity but dry, with a delicious finish that is unmistakably Pinot Noir. It was a great deal at its original price but we're now offering it at a price that's just silly.

$6.99 (was $14.99) down to our last few cases

2012 Vino di Vittorio Sangiovese, Marche Italy

If you enjoyed the Angelini Sangiovese it might come as sad news that we're finally out of it. But we are happy to present another one that's just as perfectly matured. 8% Merlot and 2% Pergola Rosso was added to the Sangiovese and aged in large oak casks. The fruit is true to the varietal with attractive sour cherry flavors, soft tannins, and perfect balance. It will be delightful to drink over coming year.

$6.99 (was $20.99) while they last!
