Help Needed at T.L. Storer!!
The last storm that hit New Hampshire a few weeks ago resulted in a large number of downed trees at TL Storer Scout Reservation in New Hampshire. Fortunately, nobody was injured, and the buildings are fine.
Here’s the report from our Ranger, Robb Ellis:
“We have 84 trees that need to be made safe, either removed or taken down. These are just in areas we will be using and do not include trees that are down and have been moved to the roadside. Water needs to be turned on to the Adams Shower house and the Goose Lodge, possibly the Goose shower house. The doors to 2 latrines need to be replaced, and the Cheyenne latrine, which had a glancing blow from a tree, needs slight repairs.”
We are in need of as much assistance that we can get to help clear the debris and prepare the camp for a number of upcoming events, beginning in mid-May. Some examples of help needed include:
- Most of it is more labor than skill, stacking wood, dragging brush even some wood splitting which depending on age can be axe or using the splitter.
- We need moderate skilled carpentry to build 2 new latrine doors this can be a combination of Scouts and Adults to use tools according to the tool policy.
- We have several trailers that we can hook to trucks to haul the brush, wood etc. We will handle the tractor and chainsaws.
- We could even use people to walk the woods and identify safety hazards.
Anyone Scouts BSA age and up can help. Come as a patrol, as a whole unit, or individually. This would qualify as conservation service hours.
Please consider coming up for a few hours, or more. Contact Robb Ellis to find out more details and/or coordinate times to come up to volunteer. Contact Robb at 603-418-1418 or Robb.Ellis@Scouting.org.
