De-Stress for Success: Stress Awareness Month


April is recognized as National Stress Awareness Month to bring attention to the negative impact of stress. Managing stress is an essential component of a healthy lifestyle - especially for college students. Join Coastline's Student Mental Health Services in recognizing Stress Awareness Month and learn how you can best manage your stress for a healthy, successful college semester (and beyond)!


A great way to help manage stress is to take a Mindful/Mental Health Minute to destress and reset. Visit Coastline's Mental Health Awareness page for a video series of a variety of different Mental Health Minute ideas to try!

Let Your Light Shine: Risas y Resiliencia (Empowerment Comedian Ernie G)

With a background rooted in the rich tapestry of Latinx culture, Ernie G navigates the complexities of identity, family dynamics, navigating college, and the pursuit of mental well-being with wit and wisdom. Prepare for an evening of side-splitting laughter and genuine connection! The event will include a comedy performance by award-winning Empowerment Comedian Ernie G, a short workshop led by Ernie G to help students to create their own comedy drawing inspiration from their identities and experiences, and a space provided to debrief the exercise as a group with the support of Coastline's Mental Health Services.

Please join us for the first ever Coast Community College District (CCCD) Lavender Graduation on Friday, May 10th! Lavender Graduation is a celebration to honor and acknowledge the achievements and contributions of our LGBTQIA+ identifying graduates. Guests are welcome. Scholarship Alert: Asian Women Entrepreneurs (AWE) Scholarship

Each year, the Asian Women Entrepreneurs (AWE) offers several one thousand dollar ($1,000) scholarships to students who are matriculating toward earning their Bachelor degree. The scholarships are awarded based upon the applicantā€™s service to, and/or leadership in the community, and on the applicantā€™s commitment to continue providing such service and/or leadership. The Scholarship Committee encourages students of all races to apply, as the scholarships will be awarded without consideration to the applicantā€™s race or ethnic origin. Applications are open through June 28th, 2024. Check out the application instructions for more information.

 

DRP & EOPS Students! Join Us for DRP & EOPS University Campus Tours Now Open to ALL Students!

Dream Resource Program (DRP) and Extended Opportunity Programs & Services (EOPS) University Campus tours are now open to ALL currently registered-Coastline students on a first come, first serve format. Note the DRP & EOPS programs will be prioritizing DRP and EOPS students. However, we highly encourage all general students interested in attending campus tours to RSVP as we will be bringing them on board until we fill all available spots! University campus tours are a great way to explore potential transfer options & processes, attend campus-specific information sessions led by current students on admission requirements, academic programs, and support services, immerse yourself in campus life (including at the dining halls and student unions), and connect with university staff, faculty, and students who can offer valuable insights about the campus. To attend, register for your desired tour(s): Chapman University on April 18th (register by 4/15), Cal State University, San Bernardino on April 24th (register by 4/18), or Cal State University, Fullerton on April 30th (register by 4/24). Then, be on the lookout for an email with further information and the student participation waiver. For any questions, please contact the designated staff for your program (DRP: Dalia Zetina at dzetina@cccd.edu, or EOPS: Natalie Tran at ntran407@cccd.edu).

Food assistance, low cost prescriptions, transportation, housing assistance and more. You can access free or low cost services through the TimelyCare app. Signing up is easy.
