Special Seniors Day 2024!
Mark your calendars for Friday, April 26th!
For one day each spring, the population at Rondout doubles. That day, we open the doors and welcome special guests for Special Seniors Day, an event that recognizes and celebrates the special relationships and interactions between generations, and the desire for multigenerational interaction as part of our children’s education. The goal of the program is to give students a chance to bond with their special guest at school.
The event is a collaboration between the PTSA, teachers, school administration, and the community. Proud grandparents, aunts, uncles, godparents and family friends have flown in from as far away as Los Angeles to attend. Parents play a critical role in Special Senior’s Day (see below).  Because of this, parents are encouraged to find someone other than themselves to participate, but if they want to be special guests, that’s OK.
RSVP Early
We want to personalize this event as much as possible!  To do that, we need to capture the names of each Special Guest visiting Rondout.  There are 2 ways you can RSVP:
Electronically - Event information was emailed to Rondout families on Sunday, March 11th. In case the invite went to your spam, the RSVP is below.
Paper RSVP, via Backpack Mail - Fill out the RSVP form attached to the Falcon Flyer and send it to school in your child’s backpack.

Parents/Volunteers Needed
This is a shout out to all Rondout parents, nannies and friends who could spare an hour of their day on Friday, April 28th.  We need help in all areas/aspects of this event. There is something for everyone to contribute on Special Seniors Day.   Volunteer now by clicking below.

Click here to sign up for a Summer Reading Book Box

Join the fun! Swap old books and get “new” books to read this summer. For every book you bring, you get to pick a book at the swap table!

Here’s what to do:

1. Find 1-5 used books (IN GOOD CONDITION) from home that you want to trade or “swap” for keeps.

2. The books you swap must be books that another student in your grade would like to read. (For example: A 1st grader would bring books that another 1st grader would like to read.) No religious-themed books, board books, or adult books.

3. Bring books to school by Wednesday, May 22nd.

4. A special “Book Swap” ticket will be issued for every book collected.

5. Tickets are used to ‘buy’ a book(s) from the Swap Table on Thursday, May 23rd. (Tables are organized by grade.)

6. Remaining books are donated to Bernie’s Book Bank.

The Public Works Village Department is sponsoring the USAgain “Tree Machine”. They will plant a tree for every filled "Tree Machine". We will be able to keep track of our progress on an individual dashboard which will calculate the impact of our donations.  The collection bin is at the northwest corner of the staff parking lot. Please do not leave items outside of the bin and honor the collection guidelines. Thank you in advance for supporting the efforts of our students to support the future of our planet.
