What's Going On At Grace

Sept 8 - God's Work, Our Hands project

Sept 15 - Sunday School Resumes

Many of these events have more details in other sections. This section is updated each week, so keep checking in. You can also see the full church calendar HERE.

On Sept 8th, our congregation will engage in service work, alongside ELCA congregations across the country!

Together, thousands of ELCA members will work to make a positive change in our communities, build and deepen relationships and share God’s love.

Join us as we do God’s work with our hands!

Between worship services, we'll gather in the Fellowship Hall to support our three 2024 Outreach Partners. There will be a station for each Partner with a supporting activity. You are also invited to bring in-kind donations to support our Partners.

Better Bound Book Store

-write notes of encouragement to the students working at BBBS

-bring donations of new or gently used books, clothing, and shoes

Children’s Attention Home

-write affirmation cards for the children & youth living at CAH

-bring donations of new items from CAH’s wish lists

Habitat for Humanity of York County

We will also have a space where you can share God's Work that you are doing in the world!

Outreach Partner Story

We are excited to share the story of Aniah Davis, a Better Bound Bookstore youth, who has just been accepted to Clinton College!

"Throughout this journey of my life I have made a lot of accomplishments while working with better bound. Despite the challenges and obstacles I had encountered, I’ve came a long way with better bound support. My main goal when first working at better bound was to get my GED and finish school so I could graduate. It was really tough for me to finish school without any support but I knew for certain I wanted to do it. I’ve always was told and believed I could accomplish anything I wanted to while working at better bound. Without the support of Miss Floyd, Mr. Floyd, Donations, and people who come to support better bound youth I would not be where I am at today. I’m highly thankful for the support of everyone and just taking time to actually help me shows me that you believe in what I’m doing. Knowing I have people believing in me when I was questioning myself on if I could actually do it really gave me the extra push to believe and words couldn’t explain all the emotions I have right now with completing my goals. I have now graduated but I still have more goals and a long road ahead of me. I’m about to set off to start school at Clinton college for nursing. It won’t be easy but I know anything I put out into what I want to do will happen. I’m very determined to make my life and goals happen because I owe it to my self to be better than what I was shown. I hope to still have support from everyone and once again I am very thankful for what I have been able to achieve with all of the help and support." - Aniah Davis

Children's Word Time update

Children's Word Time is worship for our children at their developmental level with a pastor and volunteers, during the Word portion of Sunday morning services. We worship in the Nursery and return to the Sanctuary for the passing of the Peace.

We have updated our recommended ages for CWT, based on the time we spend in CWT, the activities we use, and the developmental level of content we cover.

We currently recommend CWT for our elementary aged children (Kindergarten-5th grade). For our preschool and toddler aged children, we find that care and play with the nursery attendants is more developmentally appropriate and engaging.

If you have any questions, please speak to one of the pastors!

A quick note: Steve Johnson is currently staying at the Rock Hill Post Acute Care Center. If you go to to visit him, please ask for "Brooks Johnson", as he is listed under his legal name!
