Jewish Academy Parents,
This upcoming school year, our students, teachers, and parents will be using Canvas as our school wide learning management system (LMS).
Canvas serves as a central hub for coursework, assignments, grades, and communication with teachers. Canvas is the most widely used LMS for colleges and higher education institutions, aligning with our school’s college preparatory goals.
Here’s a quick overview of its main features:
Course Management:
- Canvas allows students/parents to access assignments, class materials, and resources all in one place. Class syllabi, lecture notes, and other important documents can be found in Canvas
Assignments and Grades:
- Students/parents can view assignments and grades in Canvas. Students can also submit assignments and view class modules.
Communication:
- Canvas has built-in messaging and notification systems that helps students and parents stay in touch with teachers and classmates.
Calendar and Scheduling:
- There is a calendar feature that helps students and parents keep track of due dates, upcoming exams, and other important deadlines. This makes it easier to manage my time and stay organized.
Parent Access:
- There is a Canvas Parent app available for you to monitor your child's academic progress. You can view grades, upcoming assignments, and overall performance. Parents can also message their child's teacher via the app.
Parents can access their Parent Portal in one of two ways:
- via an online web browser OR
- via the Canvas Parent App on your phone.
