What We're Reading

In honor of National Pet Day on April 11th, we're reading pet-themed books to celebrate our furry and non-furry animal companions. Check them out at the library:

Sit in the Sun: And Other Lessons in the Spiritual Widom of Cats

by Jon M. Sweeney.

"Our greatest spiritual teachers may just be the furry companions right in our own homes--the cats we love and treasure. They live in the present moment, approach life with playfulness, sit in the sun, and know how to trust others. From the author of The Pope's Cat comes a warm, delightful book with lessons from our nearest spiritual companions."-- Provided by publisher.

Housecat Trouble

by Mason Dickerson

"Buster has only one job: keep the house safe. Too bad he is a massive scaredy-cat. When his owner goes away and he suddenly finds his home filled with monsters, Buster has the biggest challenge he’s ever faced. Can he learn to be brave before his owner gets back? In the first volume of a hijinks-filled graphic novel series, the colorful artwork and hilarious characters will keep you laughing until the very end."-- Provided by publisher.

A Cat's Tale: A Journey Through Feline History by Baba the Cat & Paul Koudounaris

"A Cat's Tale is a history of feline kind: its origins, the evolution of the relationship with their human companions, and the surprising ways in which feline history parallels that of humanity. From the prehistoric Felis (a large mammal from which all domestic cats have descended) to ancient Egyptian cat goddess, key cats of the Enlightenment to swashbuckling pirate felines and infamous American tabbies, the story of catkind is told here in its totality"-- Provided by publisher.
