Sunday April 7th

Though Peter’s story does not end with the conclusion of the Gospels, we finish our series with Peter’s encounter with the risen Christ. In this final week, we come full circle with Peter. And now, Jesus once again meets him at the shoreline where Peter is casting his nets. Jesus offers abundant nourishment and also a new command: “Feed my sheep.” Then he turns to Peter and asks three times, “Do you love me?” It’s as if Jesus says, “Here’s my heart,” which washes over Peter’s three denials like a healing balm. No matter how far we wander, may we entrust our hearts to God. No matter if our faith is strong or weak, what we can give is our love.

Celebrate the new ministry between Rev. Heather Power, Norval United Church, and Horseshoe Falls Regional Council. It is hoped that as many as possible will join us in person to celebrate and we thank Phil Brennan for coordinating the livestream so others may join us online.

Heather’s longtime colleague and friend, Rev. Joe Gaspar will be our guest speaker at that service. Rev. Jeff Werner will preside on behalf of Horseshoe Falls Regional Council and there will be special music and participation from the Norval United Church community. Please join us! A reception will follow.

Treasurer Needed

The Executive Committee still needs to fill the position of Treasurer.

The need has become more urgent as Karen Page has stepped down as Treasurer.

The role of Treasurer has been modified to reduce the time commitment. The main responsibilities will be attending monthly executive meetings, signing cheques, cash flow management and bank related activities.

This is an excellent opportunity to serve as part of the executive. Please contact Jan for more information.

In Our Community

The UNITED 4 HOSPICE (U4H) team is comprised of volunteers from the four Georgetown United Churches (Hillcrest, Norval, St. Andrew's and St. John's) who are working as one to assist the Townsend Smith Foundation (TSF) with its goal to build North Halton's first hospice residence on the current Hillcrest site.

The annual fundraising Hike for Hospice has been taking place in Milton and Acton. This year U4H is organizing a hike in Georgetown. All three hikes will be held on Saturday, May 4 starting at 10 AM. There will be two routes (2 and 5 km) in Georgetown South.

There is a team site for walkers from our four churches called UNITED4HOSPICE (U4H). Please Join us as a Walker or Sponsor by registering or by sponsoring one of our team members.

U4H hopes all four congregations will respond generously with their time and talents to assist with running the Georgetown hike. On May 4, we will need a group of 25 volunteers at our Norval United hike location.

Please Join us as a Volunteer in one of the following roles:

- The Hike Route - serving as guide along our Georgetown South route to provide safety and encouragement to walkers

- Inside - checking-in and welcoming pre-registered walkers inside the church

- Outside - supervising and welcoming walkers as they enjoy the church front parking lot display of special cars, fire engine and food event truck

Please contact Helga Kennedy (Norval) if you are available to volunteer.

Located in St. John's United Church in Georgetown, The Sanctuary Concert Hall (TSCH) is a hidden gem known by some, however with acoustics similar to venues like Carnegie Hall and Boston Symphony Hall, not many know how amazing the sound quality really is in this performance space.

The next performance at TSCH is Georgetown's Own Adam James

Friday April 19th @ 7:30PM

Tickets are available at TSCH.ca

Hillcrest, St. Andrew's and St. John’s United are collaborating to hold three combined church services this year. On Sun. Apr. 21, 2024 @ 10:00AM - Earth Day, the people of Hillcrest and St. John's United will visit St. Andrew’s. The service will be led by Kate Young - St. Andrew's, with support from Sue Cowan - St. John’s and Jenn Franczek - Hillcrest. Combined voices will be raised and guided by Sue Whaley, Mark Peterson and the 3 church choirs. They are anticipating another joyful worship experience and the opportunity for members of the 3 congregations to stay afterwards to enjoy refreshments and further grow their friendship.
