CWCF SEEKS TO FACILITATE USE OF RRSPs AND TFSAs IN CO-OPS

Cooperatives need to be freer to obtain their capital where they can find it, but there are restrictions on the size and type of entities which can use self-directed registered plans, including those administered by CWCF’s Common Good Capital program. Read about CWCF’s submission to Finance Canada’s recent Consultation on Qualified Investments for Tax-Advantaged Savings Plans, seeking a more enabling environment from the federal government.

CWCF CONFERENCE - LOCAL CO-OP MIXER HOST APPLICATION


As part of the 2024 CWCF Virtual Conference: Unleashing Worker Co-ops for Success, CWCF is offering small grants to members who would like to host a local mixer to connect in person with those attending the Conference in their region. The grants are to cover food, drinks and any other costs you may need to host a small local gathering.

The federal government has created a comprehensive guide to starting a co-operative including: legislative requirements in all provinces, territories and the federal government; co-operative structure; business plan requirements; and FAQ’s.

IN CANADA

Réseau COOP is offering a chance to win a license to screen the worker co-op documentary (R)Évolution - le travail est humain. The application form is in French; the film is in French with English subtitles.


Union Cooperative Initiative is offering a 20% discount on any new orders and pre-orders received by 5 pm on July 26 with a minimum 25% deposit.


The International Centre for Co-operative Management's Costa Rica study tour takes place February 16-24, 2025.


Next year's Congress of Co-operatives and Mutuals Canada takes place in Regina, June 10-12.
