We want to invite all of the folks with disabilities young and old as well as the youth and all their friends and family for a free day of fishing and tradition outdoor recreation!

The fishing for trout and perch are catch, keep/clean and cook this time! There maybe some 4 to 6lb trout stocked along with the perch and catchable size trout!

The fish are being donated by Catherine and Craig Harrison in the name of there son Chuck Harrison who sadly passed away a few years ago while going fishing which was Chucks passion in life! The Harrisons want Chucks passion for fishing and his legacy of love for the youth to come together at this fishing event for all to enjoy the great outdoors through traditional outdoor recreation like fishing! New Program: Triton Pontoon Boat!

Outdoor Buddies now has a triton pontoon boat program!

We were awarded a grant from the White foundation to buy and build a pontoon program to continue our Mission of getting folks back in the outdoors that have been deprived of a great outdoor experience through traditional outdoor recreation!

How this process worked was we have a foundation that we needed to submit a request for something that would help our programs, general funds or to build something !I was asked what we needed in programing and my answer was unanimously was a Pontoon boat to start a program on the water for disabled folks either veterans with disabilities or folks with disabilities from youth on up!

This boat is handicap accessible and is 23ft long with a 115 mercury outboard motor!

We now have this in place that you can call the Outdoor Buddies office phone number 720-773-7717 and request an opportunity to go out on a boat ride or fishing etc…

This boat has the state of the art electronics called Garman live scope ,GPS and a trolling motor that works together to help us catch fish!

We will start running some outing out of Lonetree res. private club on the South West end of Loveland Co.

They have good populations of bass, wiper bass, walleye, perch and more!

We have a few captains that will be operating the boat with folks that can help us fish!

This is a new program so we are still working out some of the logistics but we are on the water ready for some outings!

Call and get your name on the list as soon as you can so our team can get you out for a fun filled day of fishing and boating! If you have any questions on how this works feel free to contact Larry on the Outdoor Buddies office line and use my extension!

See ya on the water!

Recipe: Sicky Garlic Ginger Venison (or Beef) Stir Fry

Credit: https://www.foodiewithfamily.com/

A sticky, caramelized crust coats this tender and fragrant garlic and ginger laden stir-fry of lean red meat. I prefer venison, but lean beef can be used if venison is not available to you. This healthy Asian-inspired solution to dinner is on the table in under a half hour making it an ideal meal for busy nights. Adapted with thanks from Hunger and Thirst's Roadkill Elk.

Ingredients

  • 1 pound venison or lean top round beef steak
  • 3-4 tablespoons lard or canola oil
  • 2- inch knob of fresh ginger root grated finely
  • 5 garlic cloves peeled and minced
  • 1/4 cup plus 1 tablespoon raw sugar or brown sugar, if necessary
  • 1/4 cup soy sauce plus more if needed

Directions

  1. Slice the venison (or beef) diagonally against the grain into strips that are about 1"x 4" and about 1/8" thick. Set aside.
  2. Place a large, heavy-bottomed skillet over high heat and melt the lard or canola oil until shimmery.
  3. Add the grated ginger and garlic cloves and stir constantly until fragrant, about 15-30 seconds. Add the venison to the pan and stir-fry until it is cooked about halfway through.
  4. Sprinkle the raw sugar over the meat, then drizzle the soy sauce over the top. Stir to coat well and let it cook, undisturbed, until the liquid becomes thick. At that point, begin stirring until a sticky, deeply caramelized, crusty coating forms around the venison strips.
  5. Remove from the heat and serve immediately garnished with sliced green onions.
