AFP Chicago invites you to its Third Thursday networking event in the western suburbs. Join us on April 18th from 5-7 pm for an enjoyable evening connecting with fellow fundraisers in your area while indulging in the excitement of golfing.

X-Golf has state-of-the-art indoor golf simulators, fostering a welcoming atmosphere suitable for players of all levels, regardless of ability. This event is open to both members and non-members, so feel free to bring a friend!


AFP Third Thursday event registration is $10 for members and $15 for non-members, covering food and venue costs (fees are non-refundable). Please note that all attendees, both members and non-members, must register in advance.

Pathways to Engaging Donors in a Shifting Landscape: Reaching DAFs, Middle Donor Programs, and Major Gift Strategies

Individuals have been the bedrock of giving, but we are facing several headwinds: Adapting to new methods of giving, challenges of staffing development operations, and increased organizational needs.

May 10th Workshop

This presentation will explore how, where, why, and from whom we need to fundraise to align with the visible shifts in the philanthropic landscape.


Learning objectives:


  • Understanding stewardship and cultivation of donors who shift to DAFs for their philanthropy.
  • Learn strategies to understand how to manage and grow mid-tier donors.
  • Understanding the shifting profile of generational donors and their giving.


This workshop is in the approval process for 1 CFRE point.

The Continuous Learning Council welcomes professionals and subject matter experts to provide proposals for future educational sessions. Sessions can be virtual, in-person or hybrid throughout the year. 


Topics of interest include, but are not limited to:

  • Community centric fundraising principles 
  • Cultivating transformational gifts

Eugene Muhammad

Development Officer for Institutional Advancement Governors State University


Eugene Muhammad is a dedicated professional excelling as a Development Officer and Fundraiser at Governors State University. Simultaneously pursuing his doctoral studies in higher education leadership, Eugene brings a wealth of experience spanning over a decade in various educational levels—ranging from elementary and middle school to high school.

He is a proud alumnus of Morehouse College, holding a bachelor's degree in Business Administration, and furthered his academic prowess with an MBA from National Louis University. In addition to his remarkable professional journey, Eugene co-founded Emprana Incorporated in 2018, a 501c(3) organization where he serves on the board. His commitment to education and philanthropy shines through his multifaceted roles, contributing significantly to educational development at different levels while actively shaping the future landscape of higher education leadership.
