September 2024

From The Director

Summer is my favourite time at the Library. Not coincidentally, it’s also the busiest time at the Library. And this summer at IVPL was no exception. While we’re still crunching numbers to find out how many of our communities’ members visited the Library, attended programs, and completed reading challenges, I can say that we were hopping and the Library was THE place to be.

I also want to thank everyone who came out to our two incredibly successful fundraisers: BeerFest in July and Dinner In White in August. The support of all our communities continues to astound and humble me. Don’t forget to save the date for the November 9 Wine Tasting. Tickets are available from our website or the next time you stop into the Library.

As we wind into autumn, I’m looking forward to the warmer colors of leaves, the cooler temperatures, and the chance to see how our Community Garden transforms into the next season. This summer it was certified as a Wildlife Habitat, and I can’t wait to see what that means for each season. Thanks so much to the dedicated volunteers who upkeep this amazing space. And look for another special certification next year!

Cooler temperatures also mean prime reading and viewing time! My current reads are: Beautyland by Marie-Helene Bertino, Nanette by Hannah Gadsby, and The Art Thief by Michael Finkle. My current watches are: The Umbrella Academy and Only Murders In The Building.

Enjoy paintings by artist Eileen Terrell all month long in the Fiction hallway.

"When I was a child, I won a local newspaper art

contest to see the Ice Capades and I have been

creating art from that point forward. I am

forever attempting to express that excitement

again through paintings by immersing the

viewer in a child-like vision of color, shapes and

light created through oil paint to achieve

dimension and depth and above all, emotion."

Paintings are done with oil paint on stretched

2023-2024 Annual Appeal

Norman Boell is on the verge of wrapping up his quest to become an Eagle Scout. One of his projects was to make two promotional videos for the library. In them, he highlights just how much there is to do here for the youth of the Indian Valley.

Donations to the library help make all of these things possible. We could not operate without your support. Please consider donating today. Please don't hesitate to contact me if you wish to speak about supporting the library.
