Dear LA Civil Rights Family,

The longer Summer days provide more opportunities to get things done, and we're making the most of every day to uplift communities and fight discrimination on the offense and defense. For many in LA, that hits close to home.

Part of our mission at LA Civil Rights is to create equitable pathways for all Angelenos to achieve a brighter future through homeownership, financial empowerment, and more. That's why this month, we are proud to help present a Virtual Homebuyer Seminar and multiple Reentry Financial Literacy events in partnership with Mayor Karen Bass.

Everyone deserves a chance to empower themselves and their community. Whether you are formerly incarcerated or trying to reach your homeownership dreams, LA Civil Rights and Mayor Bass are here to help. You can learn more about these great opportunities below.

At LA Civil Rights, we believe investing in equity, empowerment and accountability grows a stronger Los Angeles – and our diversity is the heart of Los Angeles. These values are behind our new LA Civil Rights logo, which we launched this week. “The Heart of LA” showcases a rising heart above our city, because hate can have no home in Los Angeles. We work every day to bring our city closer to those values – and you can join us by checking out our new logo on Instagram!

Keep the faith and keep the fight!

LA Civil Rights New "Heart of LA" Logo

The LA Civil Rights Department is proud to unveil our new "Heart of LA" logo!

This new design, available in a variety of color options, complements the award-winning #LAForAll advertising campaign, as well as iconic Los Angeles symbols.

Our new logo is a pivotal step in updating branding and reestablishing “LA Civil Rights” as the working name of the Civil + Human Rights and Equity Department at the City of Los Angeles. Incorporating elements of the official City Seal, the logo visually represents our mission and values. The beads on the perimeter of the logo represent the diverse communities which together unite Los Angeles. The centerpiece of the logo is a heart rising above City Hall, symbolizing our dedication to diversity, equity, and accountability. This heart also embodies our mantra that "hate has no home in Los Angeles."

Our new logo not only strengthens our visual identity but also reinforces our commitment to reducing bias and injustices. Through community engagement, equity initiatives, and upward mobility programming, we strive to create a more inclusive and just Los Angeles for all.

Special thanks to our Policy & Design Fellow Charlie Rivera for her thoughtful design. Charlie will start a new journey as a law student at Temple University in Philadelphia, PA in the Fall. We send her off with love and appreciation for representing the best of LA!
