CEO Corner

March is the beginning of the season of Spring!

It is also the observance of Holy Week, the week between Palm Sunday and Easter. Many of Habitat CFC partner churches invited us to their worship services and events. Earlier this month, I participated in Habitat Affiliate Conference which provided an opportunity to learn more about the incredible work Habitat does in our communities and where the ministry is headed in the future. The theme for this year highlights how we will create a world where everyone has a decent place to live: We Build. We Influence. Together. Each day focused on one of those three calls to action. We engaged in plenary discussions, workshops, over 100 exhibitors, and networking opportunities. During the event, we heard a lot about some of the things the network has said matters: innovation; resilience; transformation; and diversity, equity, and inclusion. There were panel discussions on innovation, inspirational speakers, and some exciting entertainment. With more than 100 workshop sessions and several networking events, there were many opportunities to learn from and interact with our fellow members of the Habitat network. We came together to learn, celebrate Habitat’s work and highlighted how we can build and influence a better world together! A highlight of the conference was a presentation by Rev. Bernice King. She spoke about President Jimmy & the late Rosalynn Carter’s history with Habitat for Humanity. She also shared about her parents and the impact that their work had on her life and the nation. Habitat for Humanity has a rich history!

During the month, we celebrated our Annual CEO Series Women’s History Month featuring Valerie King, Habitat CFC Family Selection Committee, Real Estate Consultant at Keller Williams Realty and National and Regional Social Equity Task Force Leader. Women’s History Month is a celebration of women’s contribution to history, culture, and society. We are grateful for volunteers such as Ms. King and also for you.

At Habitat CFC, we put God’s love into action by bringing people together to build homes, communities, and hope.

Blessings!
