The Artistic Director's Corner

Dear BalletNova Community,

I hope the first days of Spring are treating you well. While our roaring 20’s gala has -- in true prohibition style -- been put on hold for the moment, we are excited to the about our upcoming events at BalletNova!

Our Spring show is well underway, and will be presented May 18th - 19th at Jefferson Community Theatre. Tickets are now on sale! We are honored to be bringing to life the whimsical and classic Shakespearean comedy A Midsummer Night’s Dream, along with a BalletNova beloved staple, City Thoughts by Constance Walsh, and L’espace Que Vous Voyez (The space you see), a work which showcases a surprise ending, as well as the hard work, dedication and, most importantly, the imagination involved with becoming a ballet dancer. We will once again offer a special behind-the-scenes program before our Sunday matinee.

We are also excited to be presenting a special abridged version of Midsummer Night's Dream for our youngest audience members at our Petite performances on May 11th at the Kathy Fredgren Studio Theatre at BalletNova.

We hope that everyone had a wonderful Spring Break and was able to spend time with family and loved ones. Classes resume on a regular schedule tomorrow and we look forward to seeing everyone back at the studio.

Sincerely,

Matthew Powell

Artistic Director

Board Liaison

Hi, dancers and dancers’ families!

Thank you to everyone who has submitted thoughts, ideas, questions, and feedback on the Padlet! The board as well as the staff have been reviewing it regularly.

With regard to the ideas that have been submitted about adding new classes and workshops, I’m hearing the greatest challenge is having the time and studio space for new offerings, but your feedback and ideas are considered and valued. Keep them coming!

Of note, I see some posts about people who would be interested in working in groups to discuss ways to foster community within our studio and some who would like to put a group together to spearhead appreciation efforts. If you are interested in either or both of those things, please send me an email at boardliaison@balletnova.org and I will get everyone connected!

Don’t hesitate to reach out,

Alison Acker
