BURN CAMP NEWS AND UPDATES

Family Camp 2024

When a burn injury happens, it impacts the whole family. That's why Family Burn Camp is a vital part of the Burn Camps Program. In early June, five families spent four days at the YMCA of the Rockies, Estes Park Center, participating in activities that promote connection with others that have had similar experiences, healing beyond physical burns, and resilience. A team of multidisciplinary staff planned and facilitated Olympic themed activities that included: aged-based discussion groups, family strengthening activities, and normalization. Some of the highlights included “Opening and Closing Ceremonies,” challenge course games, crafts, a visit with the Estes Valley Fire District, and a field trip to MacGregor Ranch. Feedback from families included that they left knowing they were not alone.

2024 Courage Classic | July 20 - 21, 2024

Our Courage Classic fundraising team is excited to support the Burn Camps Program! S’more Courage is a group of dedicated volunteers raising money by hitting the road for two days of cycling over picturesque Rocky Mountain passes. This year’s tour has something for everyone with three fully supported route options from 12 to 79 miles through the beautiful Rocky Mountains, starting and ending in Copper Mountain. Whether you ride, fundraise, donate, volunteer, or sponsor the Courage Classic, your support helps provide lifesaving care for children at the region’s only nonprofit pediatric hospital.

Summer Burn Camp | August 2024

We are excited about Summer Burn Camp at Cheley Colorado Camps in Estes Park, CO. This is an opportunity to come together and share stories with one another. Campers reflect on their past and continue healing their physical and emotional scars. With their burn injuries bringing them together, the safe, challenging, nurturing, and accepting environment at camp is what allows campers to thrive. This year's Summer Burn Camp will run from Monday, August 12th through Sunday, August 18th.
